Draft National Youth Work Strategy
Education Scotland, YouthLink Scotland and the Scottish Government have worked in collaboration to publish the Draft National Youth Work Strategy which sets out ambitions for ensuring young people are placed at the centre of all youth work practice.
Consultation on the draft strategy will take place in January and February 2014 through a series of National Discussions across Scotland. These discussions will involve a range of stakeholders including young people and will inform the implementation plan. More information about the national discussions will be available in due course.
The final strategy and implementation plan will be published in April 2014.
What does wellbeing mean to you?
The Scottish Government are running a competition for 11-15 year olds to help develop a meaningful guide for young people about Getting it right for every child (GIRFEC).

ICT in Education Excellence Group Report
ICT IN EDUCATION EXCELLENCE GROUP-FINAL REPORT
The Education Secretary Michael Russell has welcomed a report by the ICT in Education Excellence Group.
The Group, which was convened by the Chief Scientific Adviser Professor Muffy Calder at the request of the Cabinet Secretary for Education and Lifelong Learning, was asked to consider the future development of the schools’ intranet ‘Glow’.
Over the past five months the Group, which consists of IT and education specialists and end users, have visited schools across Scotland to look at the experience of using ICT for learning.

Scottish pupils set for China visit

More than fifty young people from Scottish schools are taking part in an unique opportunity to visit China to improve their language skills and experience the rich culture of China.
Each pupil will take an intensive Mandarin language tuition course, experience a range of cultural activities and travel within China before receiving an SQA accredited qualification once they complete the course.
