What is TeachMeet Scottish Learning Fringe?

The Scottish Learning Festival is great. It’s a fantastic opportunity to find out about what’s going on, have your thinking stretched and network with colleagues from across the country, and beyond. However, it’s midweek. Many classroom teachers struggle to make it to SLF as they’re too busy teaching classes! And anyway, in Scotland a festival is not really a festival unless it has a fringe festival. Scottish Learning Festival 2012 – registration now open!

The SLF 2012 Conference Programme and visitor registration are now available on the SLF website. 

The Cabinet Secretary for Education and Lifelong Learning will give the opening address to SLF.

In addition, there will be the following keynote speakers:
• Professor Keith Grint, Professor of Public Leadership, Warwick University Business School
• Matthew Taylor, Chief Executive, RSA.

The full programme of keynotes and seminars, along with details of the range of additional activities, is now available on the SLF website.

Creative Identities – funding now available

Creative Identities is part of the Scottish Government’s CashBack for Communities programme, which reinvests the proceeds of crime back into communities to benefit Scotland’s young people. The Scottish Government has allocated £2.25 million over three years (2011-2014) to Creative Scotland to deliver Creative Identities programme.

The purpose of Creative Identities is to provide access to high quality experiential opportunities in dance, film and music for young people (0-25 years) in communities where there is an identified and demonstrated need.

The Scottish and Credit Qualifications Framework Partnership (SCQFP) invites teachers and those working in community learning to come up with a new title for the guide currently known as the Schools Toolkit. This competition is open to all secondary school teachers and workers in community learning settings in Scotland and the deadline for entries is Friday 29 June 2012.

What a fantastic and unique Film-Making scheme for your young people. We are looking for twenty 16-19 year olds to get involved in the Edinburgh International Film Festival and make a short film, which will be screened at the Filmhouse in August!
