National Youth Arts Strategy:Focus Group Roadshows

Creative Scotland is leading the development of Scotland’s first National Youth Arts Strategy. The strategy isn’t Creative Scotland’s, it’s Scotland’s and we would like you to join the conversation.

It will have the vision of establishing Scotland as an international leader in youth arts. Perhaps you think we already are? We need to hear your thoughts and opinions to help shape and inform the strategy. If you’re committed to enriching children & young people’s lives through the arts whether you’re an artist, parent, arts organisation or any other agency working with children or young people then we hope that you can join us at one of the focus groups meeting.PLEASE NOTE: These focus groups are specifically for service providers but Young Scot are running a number of consultations with young people on our behalf.

We’re expecting spaces to fill up fast as numbers for each venue are limited so please book early to avoid disappointment.

The Renewables Challenge

Pupils get the chance to investigate different renewable energy technologies, including wind power, solar power, hydrogen fuel cells, and more. The challenge is to build the equipment to harness the most renewable energy- and store it, if you can!

Glow Meet-Big Book Brain Quiz 2012

Before the fun began!
Gone for lunch!

Everyone had a fantastic day at the Big Book Brain Quiz held at the Rothes Halls on Friday…over 90 school teams took part in the hall and 61 schools with over 1, 500 participants joined in the fun online through a glow meet!

All the children did exceptionally well, proving just how much they have been reading over the last few months!
It was a very close finish and after tie-break questions the winners were announced!

The Creative Place Awards celebrate and recognise the hard work and imagination that contributes to the rich cultural life of a community, as well as its social and economic well-being.

The Awards are part of the Year of Creative Scotland 2012, a year-long celebration of our nation’s cultural and creative strengths.

St Andrews received £150,000 in the category for places with fewer than 100,000 residents.  The runners up were Irvine and Perth. St Andrews will be hosting its own Year of Celebration in 2012 and the award will allow the town to promote its already rich cultural programme to the UK and international visitors and to support a new community musical theatre production as the year’s centre piece production.
