The three core values of the 2014 games are humanity, equality and destiny and the conference will engage with these values through speakers and workshops focused on equality, diversity and human rights issues as well as the inclusion of all.

The event will showcase inspirational initiatives from schools and third sector organisations across the board, highlighting programmes available to teachers and ensuring that, together, we deliver a lasting legacy for learning.

The Tin Forest Light Up

The National Theatre of Scotland is asking you to make a Light Up Lantern out of junk, and join hundreds of others in your local community and around the world, to plant your lantern in a forgotten place. It might be a local park or derelict ground; it might be your garden or back court. What’s important is you plant it and share the moment when Spring arrives, with the promise of a flowering future.

So, anytime from Thursday 20th March, take a photo or video of your Light Up Lantern and your promise.

Then post it at thetinforest.com/participants OR tweet it with the hashtag #TinForest OR email it to info@thetinforest.com.

The Game Changer Awards is a one-off ceremony to recognise and celebrate the many contributions that staff and students in colleges and universities are making to ensure that the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games is a fantastic success and will deliver an enduring legacy for Scotland’s people.
In addition to the criteria specific to each award, the judges will be looking for evidence that clearly demonstrates a commitment to and/or delivery of the legacy goals and underpinning principles of the Glasgow 2014 Games for every award category.  The four legacy goals are:
  • Active
  • Connected
  • Flourishing
  • Sustainable.
The five principles that underpin each legacy goal are: enabling diversity; ensuring equality; enhancing partnerships; encouraging community engagement; and embedding sustainability.  Further information on these can be found on the Glasgow 2014 website and Scottish Government website.
Colleges Scotland has put together an information sheet for colleges with examples of award-winning projects that institutions undertook during the London 2012 Olympics.
You can view/download the What Makes a Winning Entry information sheet from the Colleges Scotland website.
