A free exhibition is being held in Cupar’s Corn Exchange on Friday 27 April to showcase a series of photographs taken by the town’s schoolchildren. Pupils from the four primary and secondary schools in Cupar have been working with a professional photographer on the project to inspire their community to be more active.  During the two-month ‘Be Active – Art in the Windows’ project the children were taught many different ways to be active, and were then encouraged to photograph their efforts around the town.

Enter the national billboard design challenge

Education Scotland has launched a national challenge for learners to design a double-sided billboard to be seen by people entering and leaving Scotland.

The design challenge is being run through the Marks on the Landscape website  , an interdisciplinary learning resource focussed on creativity skills, within the learning context of the land regeneration project Fife Earth.

The challenge is aimed at those working within second, third and fourth curriculum levels. It could be incorporated into planning for a number of curriculum areas including art and design, social studies, religious and moral education, technologies and sciences, and the themes of sustainability and global citizenship.

On The Rocks Youth Theatre – St Andrews

On The Rocks Youth Theatre has become firmly entrenched in the arts calendar in St Andrews. In the past three years there have been memorable performances by local schoolchildren creating Peter Pan, Alice in Wonderland and fairytales in the magnificent setting of St Andrews Castle. This year it’s happening again with a few changes – we’ve moved to the stunningly picturesque setting of the Botanic Gardens and we’re taking on Roald Dahl’s classic comedy masterpiece, Revolting Rhymes.
Over the 2 week Easter holiday children aged 9+ get to work with professional Scottish theatre company, Sunlight Productions to devise the script, learn new drama techniques and create a wonderful performance, leading their audience on a magical journey all over the Botanic Gardens. We’ve been supported by the St Andrews Community Trust which means that it is once again FREE to take part.
The performances take place on Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th April. There are still places available so to take part and find out more details please contact Julie at otr.youththeatre@gmail.com. Anyone aged 9 years and older can come and join in.
