Interdisciplinary Learning in Primary Schools

This seminar, presented by Education Scotland’s Joanne McLauchlan and Graeme Logan, will explore features of strong emerging practice in the planning, teaching and assessment of interdisciplinary learning across Scotland.
Based on national advice and good practice, the seminar will include:
– examples of the two types of IDL which form part of Curriculum for Excellence
– key points to consider when designing and implementing IDL across a school and cluster
– features of effective planning and assessment, including examples

The Centre for Digital Documentation and Visualisation LLP is a joint venture established in 2010 between Historic Scotland and Glasgow School of Art.

ACES (Access to Creative Education in Scotland) is a national initiative funded by the Scottish Funding Council. It is delivered by four major Art & Design institutions in Scotland in the form of outreach work with schools in their local area.
ACES provides practical support and encouragement to S4-S6 pupils who are considering studying art and design -based degrees at University.
The University of Dundee’s ACES project – which is delivered by Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design and the Architecture department – has recently started working with eligible Fife schools, with the support of Fife Council’s Think Innovation programme.
Pupils at these schools can, amongst other activities, benefit from:
– Practical insights into various art and design degree disciplines;
– Projects to build work for the entrance portfolio;
– Individualised guidance on applying for Art & Design and Architecture courses, including UCAS Personal Statement feedback, portfolio surgeries and mock interviews.
To access this provision, pupils at eligible schools can self-register by visiting www.dundee.ac.uk/aces , or schools can request a visit from the ACES Project Officer, Julie Murray, by emailing aces@dundee.ac.uk .
It’s my Future is a song created by children, young people and adult learners to express their views on how learning needs to change to fulfil their aspirations.
It demonstrates what exciting modern learning can look like. Education Scotland wants to hear from children and young people across Scotland about their hopes and aspirations for the future.
On Tuesday 4 December at 11am Education Scotland will host a national event at Inveralmond Community High School. The event, led by young people, will help shape future developments in learning and teaching.
A Glow TV session will enable children and young people to speak directly to Craig Munro, one of Education Scotland’s strategic directors, and share their views about learning and teaching.
Listening to and working with stakeholders is key to the success of the migration of Glow to Office 365. We understand the importance of e Portfolios in supporting CfE and we are committed to ensuring that we continue to provide a technical solution that meets the needs of pupils, teachers and schools across Scotland. A number of solutions are being considered and discussed with stakeholder groups, one of which is retaining the current WordPress service, which we are keen to do. We will do everything possible to allay the concerns that have been expressed. E portfolios are part of learning for every young person in Scotland, so it is crucial that we properly consider the feasibility of the options. We aim to confirm the way forward over the next few weeks.
Effective practices, challenges, opportunities and a framework for reflection combine to illustrate how the development of sustainable international school partnerships can ‘make the difference’ within Curriculum for Excellence.
