If you live, work or study in Fife or even if you are visiting, you can join any of our community libraries and choose from a wide range of services.

It’s FREE to borrow books and FREE to use the EzFife PCs – and that includes internet access!

There are 51 community libraries, 3 mobile libraries and a housebound service.

Fife Libraries Young People’s Team get involved in lots of projects that support Curriculum for Excellence.

In the early years setting, our Bookbug sessions introduce song, rhyme and story to the very young and support parents, to share books with their children from birth.

In the primary setting we encourage schools to visit libraries with their pupils where we can encourage and enthuse children to make their reading choices wider and more creative. We also support school book weeks with author visits and reading activities.

We encourage children to celebrate their love of books with the Big Book Brains Quiz. With exciting classroom heats and a fabulous star studded final, it boosts literacy teaching and takes reading to the top of kids to do list!

Visiting authors reach thousands of children through high profile events staged in Fife’s major theatre venues. The audience outwith Fife is also developing rapidly as our reputation grows for hosting the biggest names and the most entertaining shows.

Libraries run hundreds of Art & Craft activities every year. Recent sessions range from Manga drawing workshops with the fabulous Yishan Li, mind boggling Sensations robotics labs, beautiful painting workshops with local artists to hands on creepy crawlies in our Zoolab visits – there are hundreds of sessions hosted all over Fife each year to encourage young people to be creative.

Teacher’s Continuing Professional Development is supported through partnership with Scottish Book Trust where we bring their trainer to Fife to offer a range of courses aimed to develop teachers’ knowledge, skills and confidence when using books with their pupils.
