Termly Overview P3b.2

Another busy start to our week!

Please find attached our termly overview 🙂

Term 1 overview 3b.2

Phonics

This morning, P3b were very lucky to have Miss McGregor in our class for phonics.  She showed us great activities to help us learn our spelling words.

Sumdog update

The children are really enjoying using Sumdog (great way to allow extra time on the computer).

They have been shown how to spend the coins they have earned and have been buying lovely items for their Sumdog houses.

This week, the children were shown how to request friends.  This is quite tricky and the children are keen to have friends from both classes. Over the next two weeks, we will share the children’s ID numbers to facilitate this.

Outdoor Learning

Please note that P3b.2 will have their outdoor learning slot on a Tuesday. Outdoor clothing – waterproofs and wellies,  should be sent in on the day. We will send home the clothing that has already been sent in, we no longer need to keep it in school for the term 🙂

Outdoor Learning

Different outdoor learning experiences offer opportunities for personal and learning skills development in areas such as communication, problem solving, information technology, working with others and thinking skills. Learning in the outdoors can make significant contributions to literacy, numeracy and health and wellbeing. Therefore, outdoor learning offers many opportunities for learners to deepen and contextualise their understanding within curriculum areas, and for linking learning across the curriculum in different contexts and at all levels.

(Learning and Teaching Scotland, 2010)

At Kirkhill Primary we strive to provide regular outdoor learning experiences for all of our children.  As a school we have a fantastic outdoor space which can be used across the curriculum to develop our children socially, emotionally and academically. During last session we had a super Science Garden added to our amazing Eco Garden and we can’t wait to explore here and other areas of our school grounds!

To allow all pupils to access outdoor learning in the changeable Scottish weather, we would like to ask if pupils could please bring in a named bag with old wellies, trousers (waterproof if possible but other old trousers if not) and a rain jacket.  Please do not buy any new items!  If you do not have any of these items which could be left in school throughout term time, please send a note to your child’s teacher and we will organise this for you.  If you could please ensure that all items of clothing and wellies have your child’s name and class clearly marked, that would be fantastic.  Also, if you have any spare items which your child is not using any more and you are happy to give these to the school, please put this in a bag with it clearly labelled as spare clothing for the school to allow items to be shared with our families.

Thank you in advance with your support with outdoor learning and please get in touch if you have any questions. This support will allow our children to have a fantastic time learning outdoors come rain or shine!

P3b Homework 27th August 2019

Sumdog

Last week, the children were introduced to a new mathematical program called Sumdog.  Each child was given their own personal login and they had a lot of fun playing the games in class.

We would like the children to continue playing games and collecting coins for homework this week. We will show the children how to spend the coins they have earned in a few week’s time so it would be great to earn lots of coins!

Please check your child’s schoolbag for a letter with details of  their login and further information for you.

Welcome!

Mrs Lord, Mrs Duffy and Mrs Kirkpatrick are very excited to be teaching Primary 3b this session. It’s been a great week and we are looking forward to lots of fun learning experiences.

Pajama Party

On Tuesday the 25th of June we will be having a Pyjama Party in P2b.

On this day you may

  • Bring your pyjamas to school in a bag
  • Bring in a blanket, pillow and a teddy
  • Bring in an extra snack
  • Bring in a DVD (It has to be  U rated)

We are really looking forward to our party!

House Day

We had a great afternoon teaching each other to play our favourite board games as part of our Friday House Reward Day. Our teachers enjoyed watching us have fun with our games. Can you guess what games we are playing in the photos?
