The Bodycoach Live School HIIT

We will be doing the Live Primary school HIIT each day this week with the Bodycoach so remember your PE kits each day!

Monday’s HIIT was a great success and a huge well done to our Primary 1s who worked particularly hard during their first HIIT!  The Primary 4/5 are using their maths skills to work out their ‘resting heart-rate’ and Primary 6/7 calculated their ‘fat burning  rate’ to work out how many times their heart beats to be in the range for gaining fitness and strength.

Cross Country Champs

Pupils from Uplawmoor went to Rouken Glen park to compete in a cross country race. The runners were Toni, Jodi, Ashley, Mckenzie , Dylan, Adam, Christopher and me! We all did very well and finished the whole course.  Our running club is now finished and it’s been great fun.  Thanks to the parents who joined in with us on our final session.  Great effort!  By Alex Goldie P5

Friday Dodgeball Event

dodge-ball-vectorThe children can come to school dressed in their sporty gear tomorrow for our all day dodgeball event organised by the pupil council.  Children must wear suitable clothes for sport so no jeans and no heeled shoes please.  The children must be warm enough during playtime outdoors, so please remember to wear jogging bottoms if you plan to wear shorts during the day.

We look forward to playing against you all tomorrow!

Hamish and McKenzie – Tennis Superstars

Congratulations to Hamish and McKenzie who represented Uplawmoor Primary School at the East Renfrewshire Schools Tennis Championships on Thursday.  The boys played extremely well and managed to get themselves into the finals which will take place at the end of the month.  Well done boys!IMG_9576

Primary 5 took part in the East Renfrewshire Hockey Festival this morning with some other schools in the Eastwood Cluster.   They competed in a variety of Hockey activities and games and had a little taster into the friendly and social side of Hockey.

Well done everyone!

After School Basketball Club P1-3

ballThere is now a new basketball club after school which started on Monday for Primary 1-3.  They passed the ball to each other for shooting practise. They also learnt to dribble around the gym hall.

I enjoyed it because I learned more about basketball than I did before. I look forward to next week!  Eilidh P2

I enjoyed it because me and Daniel won all the games. I would definitely go again!  Zara P3

Netball – P7 Pupils vs Staff

We had loads of fun today during our netball competition – ‘Staff versus P7s’

Mr Reid, Mr Philips, Mr Reilly, Mrs Crawford and the teachers fought a hard battle against the Primary 7 leavers.  A big thanks to the rest of the school for cheering us on (well… I’m not sure how many cheers we heard for the staff?)

All the Primary 7 pupils had to have a lie down afterwards as they had a tougher match than they first expected!  All the staff, however, went for a jog round the park. Ha ha!

Great fun had by all.

Sports Day!

Well the sun DID shine for us on Friday!  We had a superb day at our annual Sports Day tournament and the children, staff and parents all got their running shoes on (or flip flops) and got involved with the variety of sporting activities on offer.  What a great way to finish an amazing year!

P4/5 Cricket

Today we welcomed Asid and  Saifer who are cricket experts.  We learned how to stop the ball by using our legs as a barrier and we were shown how to make ‘bucket’ hands when catching the ball.    After the skills section, we had a game of cricket.  There was a batting team and a fielding team and we learned how to win points for our team.  We will be continuing our cricket skills every Thursday for the next 3 weeks.
