Please remember to walk within the yellow line as there might be cars driving alongside you. Rob and Erin will also ensure there are no cars blocking the entrance to the driveway to make sure everybody can walk to and from school safely.
We had loads of fun today during our netball competition – ‘Staff versus P7s’.
Mr Reid, Mr Philips, Mr Reilly, Mrs Crawford and the teachers fought a hard battle against the Primary 7 leavers. A big thanks to the rest of the school for cheering us on (well… I’m not sure how many cheers we heard for the staff?)
All the Primary 7 pupils had to have a lie down afterwards as they had a tougher match than they first expected! All the staff, however, went for a jog round the park. Ha ha!
Great fun had by all.
Well the sun DID shine for us on Friday! We had a superb day at our annual Sports Day tournament and the children, staff and parents all got their running shoes on (or flip flops) and got involved with the variety of sporting activities on offer. What a great way to finish an amazing year!
The boys and girls are getting extremely excited about our school show which will be taking place on Thursday at 1.45pm and 7pm. Zoe (and Matt) have given up so much of their precious time this month to rehearse with the children and prepare the costumes, props and staging for our big performance. We have also received lots of help from Mrs Kee, Mrs McQuaker, Mrs Black and Mrs Sanders who have been busy sewing and stitching this week.
The staff and pupils of Uplawmoor Primary really appreciate the hard work and effort which has gone into creating such a unique and special end of term show.
Well done to team Uplawmoor. They did a fantastic job in the girls and boys relay races and fought a tough battle at the Tug of War. (I’ve been told we also had some ‘furry’ friends who did Uplawmoor proud!)
A quick reminder that the Uplawmoor art exhibition starts in the Mure Hall on 8th April – 21st April. Please go along to look at the work of Ana Genoves, Rachel Lowther, Georgina Starr and Kerry Stewart.
As you know our P4-7 pupils took part in a ‘Living Sculputres’ session with Rachel which will be on display at the exhibition.
A huge well done to Uplawmoor Primary School’s netball team who came 1st place at last night’s Netball competition at Eastwood High School’s sports centre.
“We’ve been working hard at lunchtime with Mrs Dobbins to ensure we were at our best. We won each game we played in and we are looking forward to representing our school at the next event on the 1st April 2014”.
The Netball Team:
Shannon, Erin, Niamh, Bobbi, Luca, Morgan, Eve, Glen, Amy.
The boys and girls of Uplawmoor did us (and Robert Burns) proud today. The audience were well and truly entertained by our wonderful musicians, singers, actors and dancers. A huge well done to P4-7 for their superb (and brave) poetry recitals, not to mention Ashley, Rob, Shannon, Naimh, Eve and Morgan who sang for the judges.
Primary 6/7 went to the Knex Championships at Eastwood High School on Thursday. We had one hour to come up with three playground pieces of equipment. We had gold, silver and bronze winners. It was a great event!

We were recently visited by Mrs Anne Black of the Keep Scotland Beautiful Eco School’s Team. Mrs Black came to assess whether or not we should keep our Green Flag status. The day was led by member of our Eco-Committe, two representatives of our Garden Committte and one of our JRSOs. They had a very informative presentation, a tour of the school and school grounds and answered questions about our Eco Action Plan. Mrs Black was very impressed by all of the pupils she had spoken to and commented that she was made to feel very welcome by everyone at Uplawmoor.
On Friday 15th November, we had lots of fun raising money for Children in Need. We paid £1 to wear our own clothes and some of us wore our pyjamas! We did a Pudsey bear hunt in the gym hall and outdoors which was great fun. I found Pudsey so I got some sweets! At playtime I bought a Pudsey biscuit for 35p, it was tasty!

Thank you to all the parents and family who were able to attend our Rainforest assembly last Thursday. You all made it very special for us and although we were nervous, we enjoyed performing for you and showing you all our hard work. Here are some pictures of us presenting our puppets to the class. What rainforest animals can you spot?
The boys and girls of Uplawmoor Primary School are all members of a school committee. Each committee meet on a Tuesday where children have the opportunity to work with a member of staff to discuss ideas linking to their committee and plan upcoming events. This is a wonderful opportunity for the children to raise the profile of the school and lead us towards excellence.
The website committee are in charge of keeping our website up to date so please come and speak to Ruby, Jack (M), Jack (W), Christopher, Dylan, Rob or Luca if your class are doing something exciting and we will happily put it on the website!
Jason, Eve, Morgan and Mhiari took along a selection vegetables, they had grown in the school, to sell at the local Farmer’s Market. They sold out in no time at all and will use the money raised to buy seeds to start again for next year! Well done and thank you to everyone who helped make our garden a success this year.
A big well done to the Tug of War Team and Relay Runners who represented our school today at the Neilston Show. The Tug of War Team were first and both the boys and girls Relay Teams were second. A fantastic result for everyone involved.
The Uplawmoor Dance club did our school proud last night as they came joint second in the East Renfrewshire Dance Championships. The competition was held at Eastwood High School and out of fourteen acts, Uplawmoor Primary’s Street Dance routine earned them joint second place. The girls (and Matthew) performed a Tinnie Tempah, Willow Smith and Black Eyed Peas medley. Well done to the Uplawmoor Crew! We are all so proud of you!
