We will be doing the Live Primary school HIIT each day this week with the Bodycoach so remember your PE kits each day!
Monday’s HIIT was a great success and a huge well done to our Primary 1s who worked particularly hard during their first HIIT! The Primary 4/5 are using their maths skills to work out their ‘resting heart-rate’ and Primary 6/7 calculated their ‘fat burning rate’ to work out how many times their heart beats to be in the range for gaining fitness and strength.
The children worked in their houses to gain lots of points towards winning the prestigious House cup (to be revealed on Tuesday). The rain stayed off and the staff, pupils, friends and families had a great time spectating and taking part in a variety of sporting activities. Well done to the winning house on the day – Libo!
See link for Cricket club for 5-8 year olds.
Pupils from Uplawmoor went to Rouken Glen park to compete in a cross country race. The runners were Toni, Jodi, Ashley, Mckenzie , Dylan, Adam, Christopher and me! We all did very well and finished the whole course. Our running club is now finished and it’s been great fun. Thanks to the parents who joined in with us on our final session. Great effort! By Alex Goldie P5
The children can come to school dressed in their sporty gear tomorrow for our all day dodgeball event organised by the pupil council. Children must wear suitable clothes for sport so no jeans and no heeled shoes please. The children must be warm enough during playtime outdoors, so please remember to wear jogging bottoms if you plan to wear shorts during the day.
We look forward to playing against you all tomorrow!
Primary 6/7 have their final swimming lesson at Eastwood High School next week. They have been working hard on the front crawl, breast stroke and backstroke. The case of the mysterious missing swimming shorts continues though……
There is now a new basketball club after school which started on Monday for Primary 1-3. They passed the ball to each other for shooting practise. They also learnt to dribble around the gym hall.
I enjoyed it because I learned more about basketball than I did before. I look forward to next week! Eilidh P2
I enjoyed it because me and Daniel won all the games. I would definitely go again! Zara P3
The boys and girls are enjoying a week of sporting activities and healthy eating presentations to tie in with our Health week. Mrs Crawford has been extremely busy organising a variety of unusal sports for the children to try. Today we had a go at Muay Thai and listened to the P6/7s assembly about the hidden sugars which are in our favourite foods.
Tomorrow we will be trying out some fencing with golf, curling, tai chi and circuit training planned for the rest of the week. Please remind your children to wear long sleeves for fencing tomorrow and to bring outdoor clothing (waterproof jackets etc) as some of our activities will take place outdoors or at a different location.
We will keep you posted on the website!
A huge well done to Ashley, Dylan, Rob, Josh, Amy, Erin and Niamh who came overall first in the East Renfrewshire badminton heats.
They won their singles and doubles games and came overall first. They are through to the finals which take place on Monday 1st December at Parklands Country Club in Newton Mearns.
