Friday Masterclasses get off to an Expert Start!

The boys and girls had their first taste of technologies, textiles and cooking masterclasses on Friday.   The Primary 6/7s are sewing coasters, Primary 4/5 started cooking with making a Greek Salad and Primary 1-3 are learning to work with wood and will be making pencil holders.

The children will rotate each fortnight to experience each masterclass.

Health week gets off to Great Start!

DSCN3122Mrs Crawford has been busy planning and preparing another wonderful health week for the boys and girls of Uplawmoor Primary.  It kicked off today with Paul, the chef from the Uplawmoor Hotel and another Paul, the chef from the Travellers Rest.

The Primary 7s worked as their sous chefs and were divided into team Yellow Peppers, and team Red Tomatoes.  The rest of the children watched the chefs chop, boil, stir, mix and dish up some fantastic plates of food.

In the end, the Red Tomatoes won the votes with Paul’s Nachos, Pizza and Eton Mess dishes.  Paul from the Uplawmoor hotel was pipped at the post with his delicious steak salad, fruit cocktail and chocolate covered strawberries.  Thank you so much to both chefs for taking time out of their day to come and work with the children.  We had a wonderful time watching you cook, tasting your food and you have certainly inspired some of our pupils to become chefs when they are older!

Ci piace la pizza!!

Yes, primary 6/7 certainly do ‘love pizza’!   Especially home made pizza, the Italian way!class

As part of our Europe topic, we visited Italy today and made our own pizzas from scratch!

The boys and girls had a great time listening to ‘O sole Mio’ as we kneaded our dough and chose our favourite pizza toppings.  We all sat down together like a big Italian family and had lunch (with a wasp who decided to join us!)

In the afternoon, we enjoyed some French treats whilst watching a movie.  We had some crêpes and French brioche dipped in hot chocolate.

Today, the children worked so well independently and collaboratively.  They even did all the tidying up!  Well done P6/7.
