Following advice from the Scottish Government, Police and East Renfrewshire Council, Mearns Castle High, along with all schools in East Renfrewshire will be closed today. This is due to the expected high winds.
All pupils and staff should reman at home.
Any S4 pupil who had prelims scheduled for today will have them re-scheduled.
Mearns Castle’s Debating club recently held a ‘Pupil v Politician’ debate on Nuclear Weapons. Speaking for the Politicians was MP and shadow defence secretary Jim Murphy.

Congratulations to all pupils in S1 and S2 who took part in the National Poetry Day competition. Pupils were asked to write poems on the theme of Games. In S1, first place went to Emma Marcuson, second to Nikki Barnett and third to Calum Russell.
S2 pupils Bethany Nesbitt, Perle Picard and Luke Butterfield came first, second and third respectively. All the winners will receive points for their houses and book tokens. Alice Carter, Olivia Bell and Ruairidh Morrison also receive house points for their excellent entries. Very well done indeed! The winning poems will be displayed in the English department and on the school website.
