S1 Sports Day

The whole of S1 attended Sports Day at Linwood yesterday.   Congratulations to all of the pupils who won medals and to the year-group as a whole for taking part so enthusiastically throughout the day.  You were a credit to our school!

Thank you to all of the staff who helped with supervision, our S3 helpers  and to our wonderful PE department for organising such a fantastic day out.  Look out for more pictures of the day on the plasma screens in the Open Area.

Developing The Young Workforce

An ambition of Developing the Young Workforce is that education and employers will work closely together to equip all young people with the skills and knowledge they will need to flourish in the workplace.  Working closely with our Parent Council, we are keen to develop business partnerships with businesses and companies to help us develop the employability skills of our pupils and help to prepare them for the world of work.

Information has been sent out to all parents and carers to ask for their support with this initiative.  Click here to see the letter and here to see further information about Developing the Young Workforce.

Mearns House Competition

In Summer 2016 Mearns House will open across from our school on Waterfoot Road.  It is a state of the art care home for the elderly.  The new development will include a café, which will also be open to the general public.

Pupils at Mearns Castle have been invited to take part in a competition to name the café.  The winning entry will receive an Ipad mini and will also have their idea used as the café name.

To access an entry form for the competition click here or collect one from your Year Head.  All entries should be passed to Miss McLachlan by Friday 6th May.  Good luck!
