Meeting the Deputy First Minister

Our Head Boys, Rob and Marc and Head Girl Katherine had a very important role a few weeks ago.

They were so excited when they heard they had to greet and give a tour of the school to Mr John Swinney, Deputy First Minister and Cabinet Secretary for Education and Skills.

They took their very seriously and waited very patiently for his arrival!

Mr Swinney immediately put our young people at ease and introduced himself to them.

Katherine took the lead and told him all about our achievement board.

Marc led him the tour of the school and told him a little about himself and the classes as they walked around the school.

Have a look at some of the photographs from the visit.

Cassie visits IMS

Thank you to Cassie, one of our Isobel Mair School  graduates who visited the Thursday ISS@IMS group this afternoon.

Cassie chatted to the students about how she has completed supported colleges courses and is now  on a fulltime beauty course.
She discussed what it’s like to be at college and the great support she got from staff and friends.

She offered beauty treatments to the girls and they were all delighted with their manicures.

Thank You

We were recently the host school for the
International Conference; Embedding Health and Wellbeing Across the Curriculum.

Take a look at some of the comments below from the delegates who took part in the visit and came back to the conference feeling inspired by their experience.

  • They thoroughly enjoyed hearing about the publication ‘50 Things to do Outdoors Before you Leave Isobel Mair School’ which they commented was full of lovely ideas such as ‘laying a stick trail’ or ‘make a driftwood sculpture’.
They were also delighted to be given a copy of the book to take away.
  • The tour of the school by your pupils was also mentioned as a highlight of the visit.
  • The aim of the visit was to allow the delegates to see ‘health and wellbeing in action’ and the visit to Isobel Mair certainly enabled them to do this most effectively.

Thank You Scottish Power

Thank You

On Friday 17th January, we welcomed visitors from Scottish Power who came to school to present the children with a very generous donation of £700.

The staff at Scottish Power had been involved in fundraising events and decided to donate some of the money to the school.

Mr Crossan and Mrs Clark took the visitors on a tour of the school to meet the pupils and then they were introduced to our Head Boy and Girl to recieve the presentation.

We would like to say a big “Thank You” to everyone at Scottish Power and will use the money to purchase new educational equipment for the school.
