It’s lovely to see the confidence of the pupils growing each week during their group sessions.

Classes Whalsay, Tiree and Jura have been working on the BBC project, Ten Pieces to inspire young people to get creatvive with classical music.
They have been learning how to make music using parts of their body and simple sounds.
Over the past two months they have composed their own piece of music which was filmed today and will be uploaded to the BBC as part of the Ten Pieces Proms.
They also created a piece of art work as part of this project.
Look out for some budding musicians in the near future!
Class Yell have recently been studying Robert Burns.
They researched facts about his life and devised a quiz for their parents to take part in for the “Show and Tell” which they had invited them to.
They created an invite for the parents and also invited Mrs Clark, our new Head Teacher.
They recited some poems and even sang “Auld Lang Syne”.
The students also prepared lunch for their visitors which included haggis, neeps, tatties and delicious Cranachan.
Have a look at some of the photographs below.

Who can guess what Mrs Wallce will be this year…………………
Some of our pupils had a wondeful sensory experience yesterday.
We were delighted to welcome Scottish Opera and their exciting SensoryO performance to the pupils.
Set in a magical, night-time world where anything is possible, SensoryO took the pupils on a train ride through the jungle to meet a friendly lion who sleeps under the stars. Rich in sound, rhythm and music, the show introduced everyone to a live performance in a fun, engaging environment.
The set is inviting and tactile and the show features a mix of live and recorded vocals and exciting percussive sounds to inspire the imagination and bring the adventure to life.
Have a look at some of our photographs below that highlights how engaging our pupils were during the sensory performance.
Classes Tiree and Whalsay have been working really hard on their enterprise/business topic.
They decided to open a cafe called “The Mair the Merrier”. The Grand Opening takes place tomorrow, Tuesday 8th October at 11.30.
Over the last few weeks they have worked on various skills and learning experiences linked to CfE as the cafe developed……….
Both classes decided that for the grand opening they would invite parents from classes Tiree, Whalsay and school staff. Pupils are all set for the big event and are enthusiastically looking forward to putting all these skills into the big event tomorrow.
Good Luck Everyone.
Classes Tiree and Whalsay wish to say a big thank you to Variety Scotland for a great fun day experience at M&D’s.
They had the best time ever and made a recording for mAIRwavesFM.

What an amazing day yesterday……………
Our StargGaze Drama Group presented their performance of “Wind in the Willows”
Since February the group have been meeting on a Tuesday after school from 3 -4 pm.
They have been working on workshops, learning scripts, stage direction, action songs, lyrics and improvisation.
Yesterday’s performance was a culmination of all their hard work, determination and team work, allowing the pupils to become Confident and Successful Learners.
I’m sure you will agree that we have very many talented yougsters and this performance allowed them to showcase their talents.
This year we were unable to take part in our Actual Reality “Make Your Dreams Come True” weekend.
