Winter Wonderland Thank You

Thank You to everyone involved and who came to support our Christmas Winter Wonderland Christmas Fair last Wednesday evening.

The event was a huge success and we were delighted to have pupils from St Cadoc’s and Crookfur Primary schools who came along and supported us with the joint carol singing as part of Community Unity.

The Christmas Light Switch on took place whilst the choir sang some Christmas carols and our special visitor “Santa” was delighted to have the honour of pressing the switch.

We had Christmas stalls, face painting, raffles, games, nail zone and much more, celebrating the enterprise activities of all the pupils.

A fantastic community event supporting life in the Isobel Mair School and Family Centre, bringing everyone together on a fun evening and at the same time raising a fantastic amount for school funds.

“Something Special” with Justin and Isobel Mair School

“Something Special ” with Justin was recently filmed at Isobel Mair School.

Justin worked with pupils from the school and Family Centre and they were so excited………………. but star struck!

Once the filming was finished Justin took some time out to meet the pupils and we even had a photo opportunity.

The premiere of the episode will be shown on Friday 14th December at 9.45am and then repeated again in the afternoon at 1.50pm where we will see some of our stars in action.

You can watch it on BBC or CBeebies website

Celebrating St Andrew’s Day

All classes celebrated St Andrew’s Day today.

Classes Staffa and Iona invited their parents into class this morning for a special Scottish morning  of coffee and cakes and then  they all enjoyed some class activities.

This afternoon we all came together to celebrate at our St Andrew’s Day assembly.

We  also celebrated swimming achievements from some of the pupils as Mrs Clarke handed out certificates.

During assembly, Loch awe drew the raffle for the hamper they were raffling as part of the £10 challenge each class was set by Mrs Wallace.

We are delighted to say that the lucky winner was Mrs Kidd from Class Shetland.

Community Unity

Thank to the staff and pupils from St Cadoc’s Primary School who entertained our pupils and the children from the Family Centre with an afternoon of Scottish music and dance.

Everyone impressed with the group and individual performances of the pupils and our own Reels on Wheels performed also.

Thank You everyone for a great afternoon.

Loch Awe’s £10 Challenge

Loch Awe staff and pupils have put on their thinking caps to come up up with a creative idea for the annual £10 challenge set by Mrs Wallace.

They decided to raffle a St Andrew’s day hamper………….  staff  from Loch Awe very kindly donated scottish items to fill the hamper and tickets have been sold to all the staff and parents and to date they have raised………………………………………… top secret
We will reveal the total once the raffle has been drawn at assembly on Friday.

Tickets still available from Loch Awe up until  Friday lunchtime.

Open Morning

Class Tiree have invited all their parents into school this morning to help with an enterprise activity.

The class all voted on what they wanted to do for the open morning and this was the favourite.

It was decided to ask the parents to come to school and help with an enterprise activity, making items for the school’s Christmas Fair.

The pupils have been so excited and keen to have the parents onboard helping out with the craft activity.

Parents have just arrived and now  the creativity begins……. although they will be rewarded at the end with a coffee and mince pie.

Enjoy everyone.

Community Unity Celidh

Last Wednesday saw Loch Ness Corridor join in with our local primary schools as part of the Community Unity initiative at the Annual Eastwood High School Ceilidh. Previously known as ‘Twinning’, Community Unity is the extension of the anti-sectarian message developed in both St. Cadoc’s and Crookfur Primary Schools.

A busy programme of events is scheduled throughout the school year and Isobel Mair School has now been invited to take part, taking our place as active participants within our new school community.

The Ceilidh was a great success and was well attended by Primary 7 pupils from Crookfur and St. Cadoc’s and a mix of pupils from our Primary Department.

Pupils were entertained by our Scottish Country Dancing Team, “Reels on Wheels” and an ambulant dance was also performed to a great reception. Well done to all our pupils!

This Thursday we will welcome pupils from St Cadoc’s who will be performing for our pupils in our MOD. More details to follow.

Pantomime Time

Classes Jura and Orkney are off to the Palace Theatre in Kilmarnock this morning  to see Snow White……………… oh no they’re not!

We had some very excited pupils in classes this morning as they prepared for their outing to the pantomime.

Hopefully some of the pupils will give us an audio blog about the visit on return to school.

Oral Health

Class Lewis are currently doing an oral health topic as part of their health and wellbeing.

To support our teaching and learning Arlene Robertson, the oral health educator for East Renfrewshire, came in to show us why it is important to brush our teeth and how to take care of them.

We all loved the giant toothbrush and dinosaur puppet with big teeth to brush.
