Elf on the Shelf at IMS

At Isobel Mair School we took delivery of  our very own elf who will put each class under elf surveillance and report back to Santa.

The elf will take part in class activities with the pupils and promote a little bit of magic into the school day.

So far the elf has joined a PE lesson, been for lunch, joined class Iona at the café and even went for a walk, watch this space for more elf stories and antics..

Each class will have a day with the elf and report back with his antics and we will update every day with photographs.

Have a look at some of the photographs below.

Christmas Enterprise

Classes Staffa and Jura invited their parents into class for an open morning.

The families were invited to  support pupils with their Christmas enterprise crafts.

Everyone was excited but Katie was super excited that her Dad was in class helping with their Christmas enterprise crafts.

Afterwards everyone enjoyed a get together in Teenscene with coffee and mince pies.

Look out for their crafts at the Christmas Fair on Thursday 1st December.

Sophie visits IMS

We were delighted today to have a visit from one of our former pupils Sophie.

Sophie and her family moved to America about 4 years ago and it was lovely to see them come back to IMS to see all her old friends.

Ruby was delighted and shocked when she realised it was Sophie and gave her a tour of the school.

After the tour and meeting some old friends and staff, Sophie joined class Lewis for a snack in Corrie House.

Sensory Workshops

Classes Iona and  Shetland worked together to prepare and set up a sensory showcase for their families and friends from the primary department.

Everyone had a great day exploring the nursery rhyme themes sensory day.

Some of the parents then joined class Iona as part of the showcase and took part in their morning group.

Well done everyone for a great day.

Pupil Council Meetings

Our primary and secondary pupil council meetings took place this afternoon.

The agenda included:

  • Pupil Council Purpose
  • What job would you like to do?
  • Making Isobel Mair better for the pupils
  • Christmas party and disco

Our senior pupils were very excited that the meeting took place in the conference room.

Our Rights Respecting School group also met this afternoon and they spent some time updating their wall display.

Missing Cat

p1011497One of our pupils has lost his beloved cat called Timmy.

He has been missing since Saturday,  5th November.

Can you keep a look out for him and help return Timmy to his family who are heartbroken and desperate to find him.

Contact Nicola Kerr 07432094875 if you have any information.

Thank You

Glasgow City Mission

Class Staffa visited Glasgow City Mission  this morning to deliver our harvest collection.

Many thanks to Graham Stephen who met and talked with the class, explaining all about how the donations help others less fortunate.

During the discussion the pupils all told Graham what they brought in for our Harvest table.  Holly told everyone she brought bananas.

Sharing experiences with Michael, ERDA

Michael from ERDA  (East Renfrewshire Disability Action) is spending some time with our senior classes up at  Woodfarm High School.

Michael is going to be discussing  his post school experiences, have a question and answer session  with the pupils and then talk a little about hate crime week and how we can engage with that.

Go Green for Halloween Disco

Thank You to Miss Philo and class Islay for organising our “Go Green for Halloween Disco” this afternoon.

We started off with the primary disco and then the senior pupils took to the dance floor, great fun had by everyone.

Prizes were awarded to the best fancy dress and we had some really good ideas this year.

Mr Holmes as usual entertained everyone with his dance moves.

Mrs Clark was even escorted out of the disco for her “bad” dance moves………..
