Special Games

Our Special Games today were a huge success and enjoyed by all the pupils.

Every pupil participated in the activities, working alongside their peers and friends from St Cadoc’s and Crookfur Primary schools.

Thanks to Mr Holmes who organised the event and worked with our Sports Co-ordinators to ensure the events were challenging and enjoyable.

Our Special games are about to begin…….

Pupils from St Cadoc’s and Crookfur primary schools have arrived to join in  our sporting activities.

A huge range of events are on offer to challenge everyone  including dance, athletics, hockey, football with an SFA coach, curling, table cricket, parachute games, cycling and even cheerleading!

Our Active Schools Coordinators are on hand to help us out.

A Sensational Childhood

A Sensational Childhood

Pupils from Class Jura, Tiree and Whalsay have been rehearsing for this year’s Community Unity Drama Project – “A Sensational Childhood!”

Next week they will join their friends from St Cadoc’s and Crookfur for 3 intensive rehearsal days.

This will all end up with a spectacular show next Thursday evening (19th March) at Eastwood Theatre.

Tickets cost £5 and can be bought from the school.

 

Red Nose Day

Make Your Face Funny for Money

Next Friday, 13th March we are participating in the annual Comic Relief fundraising event. 

This year’s theme is “Funny For Money!”

Pupils are invited to come to school dressed in red. (This can be anything red – clothes, shoes, face or even hair!)

Pupils are asked to bring in a minimum of £1 donation for dressing up.

We will be celebrating Red Nose Day with events throughout the day such as:

  • Splatting our Senior Management Team with cream cakes
  • Bake Sale
  • Face Painting
  • Finishing with a whole school Talent Show in the afternoon.

Please send in some small change for your child to take part in the above events.

I hope you will assist us in having fun and raising some money for Comic Relief.

West of Scotland Swimming Gala

On Wednesday 11th March five of our IMS Swimmers will be heading to Blantyre Sports Centre in North Lanarkshire to take part in a West of Scotland swimming gala for pupils with physical or visual impairments.

Pupils from classes Bute, Sanda and Shetland will be in attendance  and they’ll have a chance to swim against peers from other schools in a very friendly and slightly competitive atmosphere.

We’ve had great fun in the last few years taking part and races will include 10m front stroke and 10m back stroke, as well as a novelty race and a relay.

IMS Special Games

Thursday 12th March will see this year’s IMS Special Games event.

We will be joined  by pupils from St Cadoc’s and Crookfur to help us enjoy our sporting activities.

French Cafe

Bonjour

As part of their SQA module, Class Shetland invited their parents in to school for a french cafe.

They were greeted at the door by Marc who welcomed them with “Bonjour”……..

The pupils decided on a menu for the cafe and shopped for their ingredients.

Red Nose Day

Make a Funny Face for Money

Classes Iona and Mull are doing a sponsored walk to raise money for Comic Relief on Friday 13th March  around the school grounds and have invited other classes to join them on the walk.

This year the theme is “Make Funny Faces for Money and we will be using face paints and props to do this, so watch this space.

Linn Park

Linn Park Fun

Our primary 1&2 classes had a very special outing today to Linn park.

The two classes had great fun playing together and using the outdoor play equipment.

Packed lunches were the order of the day and everyone sat really well.

WOW Careers Event

 WOW on the Move Exibition takes place at IMS

Some of our pupils are taking part in a Careers event today in corporation with the Science Centre allowing them to access  some information showcasing what it is really like to work as a scientist, explorer, researcher, or engineer, in one of 100’s of careers in science.

Ocean Orbit Disability Swimming

Ocean Orbit Disability Swimming Lessons takes place with East Renfrewshire Council Sports Services.

The lessons take place at Eastwood High Sports Centre
SUNDAY 1.00 – 1.30pm & 1.30 – 2.00pm

Lessons are structured around children with either a physical or learning disability or sensory impairment, encouraging them to move and swim through the water with assistance of a qualified teacher.

COST – £14.85 / £8.85 concession for 3 wk block (wk 4 FREE family day)

These 30 minute lessons are based on individual children working to their own abilities, having fun whilst learning to swim at the same time.

These lessons run in 4 week blocks with Week 4 being re-enrolment week for rebooking into next block.

Week 4 is a FREE fun day for all to enjoy, exclusive to our children and their families who have participated in these swimming lessons.

Digital Learning Week

This week we are taking part in Digital Learning Week. Digital learning is an intergral part of learning at isobel Mair and takes place throughout the school day.

The aim of the week is to highlight and publicise the innovative and exciting ways in which digital technologies are being used to support learners in our school.

World Day of Social Justice

As part of our Rights Respecting School Journey we are taking part in a Peace March for the World Day of Social Justice. We will be joined by pupils from St Cadoc’s and Crookfur Primary schools.

We will have an assembly all about the World Day of Social Justice and then all three schools will march through Isobel Mair School with banners and placards that they have prepared.

This year’s marching Song is “Get up and Stand” and you can listen to it here.

MAIRtrade Fair

It’s cool to be FAIRtrade

 

Our MAIRtrade Fair takes place this morning, Thursday 19th February at 10am.

Take a look at what all the classes and children from the Family Centre have been working on this term for the MAIRtrade Fair.

Pancake Tuesday

Classes Iona and Mull walked to the cafe at Newton Mearns Baptist church yesterday for pancakes.

On the way they practised their road safety skills and used the green man crossing.

At the cafe they all sat well and ordered delicious pancakes. Our Fairtrade lesson continued into the cafe as Leia discovered some Fairtrade sugar.
