Shout Loud, Shout Proud

As part of our school ethos for celebrating success, we want to encourage you to share your child’s achievements.  We recognise that our pupils experience a range of activities out with school and to help celebrate these successes with their peers and teacher we are issuing a Shout Loud, Shout Proud sheet to each pupil. Active Schools Information

P5: Cricket Festival

All pupils from primary 5 attended Clydesdale Cricket club on Wednesday 27th August to participate in a Cricket Festival organised by our Active School Co-ordinator, Marie Baxter. This was part of their curriculum programme they received before the summer during their P.E lessons. All children enjoyed the festival and got the opportunity to be coached by the club coaches and also played a number of games throughout the morning.

Cluster Clubs

This term on the back of the successful 2014 Commonwealth Games there will be a number of cluster after-school clubs running in all primary and secondary schools. Please keep an eye out for letters that will be issued over the next few weeks for all our after school clubs.

Some of the clubs running across the cluster are Judo, Karate, Golf, Dance Fusion, Yoga and Tennis. Marie Baxter is working in partnership with local community clubs to try and engage more children in sports and utilise the local clubs, providing more opportunities for children to be active and involved in sports.

Commonwealth Gold Medallist visit to schools

Marie Baxter has arranged a GOLD medallist to visit all the schools across the cluster on Friday 5th September… This is a fantastic opportunity for all our pupils….who could it be? All will be revealed soon….

Volunteers

We are always looking for any parents who would be able to assist in any of the clubs, so please contact Marie Baxter directly on 07800629690 if you are interested in volunteering.

Congratulations to our Playground Committees!

As you will be fully aware, this year our pupils and staff have worked extremely hard to plan for and make improvements to our school playground. I am sure you will agree that the playground is unrecognisable from that of less than a year ago.

Our Director of Education, Mrs Shaw, has been so impressed with the work of pupils and staff she has contacted them directly to acknowledge their hard work and offer her support to ensure that the final stages of the development will be completed during the school holidays. Please click here to read Mrs Shaw’s letter to our Pupil Council. With the addition of the £5000 donation from our Parent Council, we will be able to invest in equipment to enhance the variety of sports on offer as well as develop the Adventure/ Eco Area further.

We would like to thank our pupils from Primaries 5 and 6 for their hard work over the year in creating an environment that has been exceptionally well received by all pupils and will be a highlight for all who attend in years to come.
