Poppy Pancakes!

The Daisies class enjoyed making poppy pancakes today. We made red icing and practised our spreading skills using a knife. We used chocolate buttons as the centre of our poppy. We all enjoyed tasting these!

Responsible Citizens on Remembrance Day

* SUCCESSFUL LEARNERS, RESPONSIBLE CITIZENS *

The Daisies class were very responsible during today’s minute silence. We all sat nice and calm when the bell rang. We particularly enjoyed the cBeebies poppy field animation clip.

We used pastels to create a sunset picture. Some of us chose to include fields, poppies and soldiers in our pictures. They are very effective!

Remembrance Day Activities in the Daisies Class!

The Daisies have enjoyed participating in Remembrance Day themed activities this week. We created paper airplanes and had great fun using them in a race!

We also enjoyed exploring poppy themed sensory bags and creating a handprint poppy picture.

We worked together to make a handprint poppy wreath and used it to decorate our window.

Finally, we explored red foods and drinks and had a tasting session. We tried red cola, red apples, raspberries, red Pringles and red laces.

Happy Halloween from the Daisies Class

* SUCCESSFUL LEARNERS, CONFIDENT INDIVIDUALS, EFFECTIVE CONTRIBUTORS, RESPONSIBLE CITIZENS *

The Daisies class have enjoyed a range of Halloween activities this week.

We enjoyed carving pumpkins and used them in a science activity to make them erupt! (See our Science blog for the eruptions)

We made a range of toilet roll Halloween crafts including pumpkins, vampires and Frankensteins.

We played spooky Halloween bowling and used the numbered cups to help us choose which Halloween goodies to taste. We shared whether we liked the taste of these goodies or not.

We made some white chocolate ghosts for a special Halloween snack and loved our goodies from the lunch hall.

Finally, today we loved dookin’ for apples and playing a Halloween hide and seek game.

Focused Areas of Learning – Whole School Citizenship – Halloween Parade

The Daisies class were all very confident individuals and came into school dressed in Halloween costumes. We loved showing them off to our friends and joining in with the virtual parade.

Focused Areas of Learning – Enterprise – Happy Halloween cards

The Daisies class enjoyed making cards to send home to their family wishing everyone a Happy Halloween. The boys had a choice of whether they made a witch or a ghost design and used their hand and foot prints to make their creations.

Focused Areas of Learning – Science – Erupting Pumpkins!

The Daisies class enjoyed creating erupting pumpkins this afternoon. We used baking soda, food colouring and vinegar to make eruptions which looked like our pumpkins were feeling a bit sick! We loved observing these changes!

Diwali Fun in the Daisies Class!

The Daisies class enjoyed celebrating Diwali this afternoon. We read a story called “Dipal’s Diwali” and learned about the celebrations and customs related to this festival.

We also explored rainbow coloured salt and enjoyed touching, patting and mixing this.

Finally, we created our own rangoli patterns for a school competition and these are on display on our classroom door.

PE Fun in the Daisies Class!

The Daisies class loved their first indoor PE experience in the gym hall today. We enjoyed exploring Mrs Feeney’s equipment including the wooden sticks, rainbow ribbons and giant exercise balls.
