FAOL – Whole School Projects/Citizenship – Pumpkin Carving

* RESPONSIBLE CITIZENS, CONFIDENT INDIVIDUALS, EFFECTIVE CONTRIBUTORS *

The Moonbeams class loved exploring pumpkins this week. We were all brave enough to help prepare the pumpkin for carving in some way – whether it was scooping using spoons or our hands.

We used pens to draw templates on the pumpkin and then helped wiggle the shapes out when they had been cut.

We loved this experience!

Halloween Week

Responsible citizens using the drill to create our pumpkin all the boys loved this experience.  We also used a hammer and cookie cutter, boys with their toys, great fun.

Halloween Spider cupcakes were made this week, great team work and successful learners, listening to Jack’s instructions and carrying them out with a small amount of support.

Halloween sensory assembly, everyone was confident individuals to take part in all the activities.

Oozing fizzy pumpkin experiment, we watched the spiders and creepy eyeballs ooze out of our carved pumpkins.

Skeleton X-ray art work, the boys all enjoyed getting their hand painted and found it very tickly.  We had to think about the bones in our hand to add these onto our pictures.

Horse Riding Fun!

* CONFIDENT INDIVIDUALS, RESPONSIBLE CITIZENS *

The Moonbeams class loved our first horse riding outing yesterday where we got to meet Betsy and Hamish. We got to groom them and all had a chance to ride one of the horses. We were learning what to say to the horses to encourage them to go faster and what to say when we wanted them to stop.

FAoL Sensory Balamory Art

The boys in the Sunflowers class have been exploring some  sensory art materials. The pupils used super soft cotton wool and pom poms to create these gorgeous Balamory rainbow clouds. We linked  LGBT into our discussion about rainbow colours and talked about what makes a good community like Balamory.

The boys were all given the opportunity and freedom of choice to select their own resources and to self assess using the classroom ‘thumbs up, thumbs down’ cards.

Excellent listening and making skills from these super successful learners! Keep up the hard work boys!
