Willowbank School, KilmarnockThe Snowdrops have been very busy creating Christmas crafts and exploring Christmas smells or textures. Everyone has made effective contributions and confident choices during all our activities. We have successfully practised and been learning new skills – cutting, gluing, filling, sticking, painting and pressing textures down. There have been lots of sparkly colours to explore. After all our hard work, the class wall is looking bright, colourful and decorative!
Today the Sunflowers class created these lovely Santa pictures. The pupils were given support to cut out a triangle, rectangle and semi-circle shape. They then built these up to make a Santa face and used a curly pipe cleaner and white paint to paint a beard. The boys presented their hard work to peers. Lots of happy faces today!

Check out these silly Christmas stockings designed by the Sunflowers class! The pupils used different coloured wool and wrapped it around a stocking shaped template to make a pattern.

The boys created these lovely Scotty dog pictures by layering various coloured and textured paper. We discussed our favourite colours and used this to help inspire unique tartan designs.

The Sungazers were ‘Confident Individuals’ as they enjoyed meeting Santa’s reindeer.
The Sungazers were effective contributors as they worked together, explored a variety of materials and made Scotch Broth.
Today we all enjoyed taking part in the process of making truffles whilst strengthen our muscles. We were all effective contributors in taking part in the process.

The Beech class started their new ECO target yesterday. We are looking at Global Goals 6 which focuses on keeping our local water cycle clean. We looked at how the water system works and where water comes from. then we started an experiment that lets us observe the cycle in action and listened to a song all about the cycle. We then engaged in a sensory water “play” session where we demonstrated the cycle using different types of water and water-themed objects. We were very successful leaners as we were able to complete an assessment at the end showing how much we learned!
On Friday afternoon we decorated our class Christmas tree. The boys had fun building the tree, putting on the lights, putting on the tinsel and adding all our lovely baubles. We worked together to complete the task each taking turns.
This morning we were set the challenge of creating a Christmas tree out of different shapes.
