Welcome back!

We have had a very successful return to school this week, it had been so lovely to see all our pupils again and to welcome our new P1s, who have settled in extremely well.

Some important information we want to remind you of…

School Uniform

We expect all of our pupils to be wearing school uniform to ensure they are easily identifiable and represent Team New Cumnock. If you require support with this, we have a well stocked pre-loved uniform stock (including polo shirts, jumpers, hoodies, trousers, skirts, pinafores, jackets and shoes) in our main reception. Please come to the office and have a look and take what you need.

Drop Off

A message was sent out yesterday regarding drop off in the morning. To prevent our playground from being congested, we ask that parents drop children off at the school gates, which are manned from 8.45am by a member of staff. P1 parents/carers who wish to walk their children to their line, are asked to wait at the gate until 9am to do so, this will allow the class teachers to bring the other classes into the building first and avoid overcrowding.

Free Toast and Fruit

We are looking into sources of funding to enable us to run our Breakfast Club again, but meanwhile, please do not forget that as per East Ayrshire policy, we provide our children with free toast from 8.45am. Children can make their way into the dinner hall in the morning to get this. As well as this, we have free fruit available at morning interval.

PE Days

Your children will receive 2 hours of PE each week. In order to participate fully, they are required to bring a change of footwear (plimsoles/trainers) and a change of bottoms (joggers/shorts/leggings) to wear for these lessons.

These can be put in a gym bag to remain on their peg in school or kept in their school bags.

PE days are as follows:

P1 (Mrs Clarke) MONDAY & FRIDAY

P2 (Mrs Elliott) TUESDAY & WEDNESDAY

P2/3 (Mrs Johnstone) TUESDAY & WEDNESDAY

P3/4 (Mrs Petrie) WEDNESDAY & THURSDAY

P4/5 (Mrs Armour) TUESDAY & FRIDAY

P5 (Miss McQueen) WEDNESDAY & THURSDAY

P5/6 (Miss White) TUESDAY & THURSDAY

P6 (Mrs Ramsay/Miss Nicholl) MONDAY & FRIDAY

P7 (Mrs Frew) MONDAY & THURSDAY

Names on items

Please ensure that you have your child’s name on all their personal items, including clothing, packed lunches and water bottles. We have already collated a number of lost and found items this week, that we have unable to relocate as they have no names!

Data Forms

Prior to the holidays, children were sent home with data check forms for completion. This is to ensure all the information we have on record is correct. Included in this is photographic consent forms, which we require before we can upload images on our school blog and Learning Journals. We are really keen to start sharing our learning and successes with you so if you have not yet returned these, can we ask that you do so as soon as possible.

School Water Bottles

As part of our Clean Green agenda, we are keen to reduce the amount of waste we have. One way our Clean Green Team were keen to do this was by encouraging the use of reusable water bottles in the classroom.

To support us with this, our Parent Council have kindly donated a reusable school water bottle for every child in P1 and P2.

We ask that you make sure your child’s name is on it, with either a permanent marker pen or a sticky name label to avoid these getting mixed up.

A huge thank you to our Parent Council for this thoughtful gesture!

Sport, Health & Wellbeing Facilities & Opportunities in New Cumnock

We are keen to see the right opportunities available to the whole community.  Better health should be high on everyone’s agenda.
We can only help with this if you have your say.
We need SUBSTANTIAL responses to this survey.  Please have your say…

Mary Poppins JR Success!

And that’s a wrap!!!

What an amazing experience Mary Poppins JR has been!

I couldn’t be more proud of our incredibly talented children and grateful of the help of my wonderful colleagues, who have all worked so hard to make our school show for 2025 as sensational as it was!

We started with a standing ovation on opening night, what more could we ask for?!

Thank you for all your kind words about our production, your support means so much to us all!

Well done to Aurelia K who won the raffle for the special Mary Poppins coin!

Please enjoy a selection of photos I managed to snap throughout our show nights.

A very proud, Mrs McNulty ❤ x
