Our school choir have been kindly invited to perform in George Square in Glasgow next Saturday as part of a Robert Burns memorial event in the run up to Burn’s birthday.
They will not only be singing at the laying of wreaths at Robert Burns statue in George Square but also at City Chambers and then The Merchants House. What a prestigious event and fabulous opportunity for our talented young people!
The Jean Armour Burns Trust who are organising the event, are kindly funding our transport costs and are also providing the lunch for the children next Saturday too.
At the organisers request, spaces are limited so I can only offer this opportunity to P6 and P7 choir members. Letters will be sent home on Monday with consent slips and information about bus times and what chidlren will be required to wear and bring.
The children were informed of this today so I wanted to let families know to give prior warning.
We are very much looking forward to being part of this event and will meet at various times during the school day next week and indeed at Monday’s rehearsal to prepare for this.

NCDT are looking to gauge interest in creating a “Boys Group” for young people age P7 to come along and socialise and participate in activities in a safe and welcoming space.
At this point we want to find out if people would be interested and what activities both parents/carers and young people would be looking to take part in. Also are there topics such as mental health etc you would like to see us discuss and look into.
*PLEASE NOTE THIS IS A REGISTER OF INTEREST ONLY THERE IS NO GUARANTEE THAT THIS GROUP WILL GO AHEAD*
We are continuing to encourage our young people to walk, cycle, scoot or park and stride to school as part of our Journey to Jupiter challenge in partnership with Clean Green East Ayrshire.
We will continue to log S-Miles gained by those who have travelled to school in an environmentally friendly manner each day. These results are then sent away to the Clean Green EA team who will collate the results of all participating schools in the local authority in the hope that we gain enough S-Miles to power our rocket all the way to Jupiter!
As we shared previously, we have concerns with the dangerous parking we have witnessed around our school grounds which makes it difficult for our children to safely use the footpaths around our school.
Click on the link below to our previous post which highlighted the 5 safe car parks within walking distance of our school which we encourage all our families to use when travelling by car.
We are trying to encourage our young people to walk, cycle, scoot or park and stride to school as part of our Journey to Jupiter challenge in partnership with Clean Green East Ayrshire, but we are faced with the ongoing issue of dangerous parking around our school grounds, making it difficult for our children to safely use the footpaths around our school.
Our Clean Green Transport Team would like to make you aware of 5 safe car parks within walking distance of our school.
Please watch our video and listen to the message from our young people to help keep everybody safe!
