Tonight our school choir sang at Cumnock Hospital for the Ayrshire Hospice.
What a truly amazing place the Hospice is, with exceptional staff!
We felt so privileged to sing for all the patients and staff tonight to spread Christmas cheer.
Dear Parent/Carer,
Since the summer break, New Cumnock Primary School has been participating in the Trailblazers trial – a joint Ayrshire project looking to improve road safety and increase active and sustainable travel to school. To understand the impact of the trial, a short survey has been prepared to understand views on the trial and any changes in travel behaviours and attitudes. I would be most grateful if you could take a few minutes to share your thoughts via the short survey provided at the following link:
Trailblazers Parent/Carer Survey
The deadline for the survey response is the 15th of December.
Thanks in advance for your support.
What an exciting couple of days we have had in P7 where we have been working with BBC Scotland Learning on a Burns LAB Project.
We have been reciting and recording poetry and creating stop motion animations.
We can’t wait for you to see our work with Jo Hall and her team when it is aired in January. We will keep you posted!
A huge congratulations to our P6 and P7 pupils who participated in the East Ayrshire Primary Sportshall Athletics at the Barony Campus today!
Our young people took part in many events from javelin to relays.
They were delighted to be awarded 2nd place out of the schools who participated in the Barony heats, well done everyone!
Yesterday we enjoyed a whole school trip to the Palace Theatre to watch this years Pantomime, Jack and the Beanstalk.
We had a great afternoon! Lyle and Lucas did us proud with their star performances on the big stage!
A huge thank you must go to our wonderful Parent Council for their kind donation of £2000 to go towards our transport costs. This helped us to dramatically reduce the cost we asked from our families to help fund this brilliant day out.

A huge thank you to everyone who attended and supported our Christmas Fayre on Saturday!
It was a huge success, raising over £1300 for Parent Council funds, which help our school immensely throughout the year!
Thank you to our wonderful Parent Council for all their hard work in putting together such a large scale event! Another huge thank you goes to Christina Mackie at the Gospel Hall who kindly donated all their takings from their stall at the Fayre, to our funds. This was extremely kind of you, thank you very much!
We are participating in ‘No Pens Day’ on Wednesday 29th November to raise awareness of the importance of communication skills in our school.
This national day is set to help improve children and young people’s communication skills through a day of talking and listening activities – starting with the biggest ever show and tell!
Why is your child’s school taking part in No Pens Day 2023: Show and tell?
• Teachers estimate that, in the UK today, 1.9 million children struggle with talking and understanding words. Without the right support, they face huge hurdles in learning, making friends and staying in good mental health.
• It’s a chance for your child to improve their speech, language and communication skills through a day of talking and listening activities – starting with the biggest ever show and tell!
Show and tell focus – MY HOBBY – please encourage your child to bring an object to help them share about their hobby with the class. This could be – a pair of dancing shoes, a karate belt, a colouring book, a reading book…. please do not send anything of extreme value and no need for lots of items – only 1 item to help them share their hobby with their friends.
We will also be encouraging British Sign Language practise throughout the day too as a way of communicating.
We are not asking for money directly but if any parent would like to support this charity, all money raised will go to Speech and Language UK – a charity that supports children who struggle with talking and understanding words.
