Summer Fayre Success

A massive well done to our hard working Parent Council on another fantastic event for New Cumnock Primary School. The rain certainly didn’t dampen any of our New Cumnock spirit!

It was great to see so many parents, children, staff and members of our community supporting the school.

Thank you everyone!

A huge well done to Lottie J who won the Guess the Bears Name competition, she is now the proud owner of ‘Bubbles’!

Badminton for Beginners

We are pleased to announce that, following the successful badminton sessions held during activity weeks and/or at after-school clubs, we are offering weekly beginner sessions for children who are interested in further developing their skills. The current sessions available are as follows:

· Barony Campus, Cumnock: Thursdays 6.00 – 7.00pm

· Grange Academy, Kilmarnock: Mondays 6.00 – 7.00pm

Additionally, we are exploring the possibility of introducing Friday evening sessions in Cumnock, as several children have indicated they are unavailable on Thursdays. We are also considering running sessions during the school summer holidays to provide further opportunities for participation.

If you would like more information about these sessions or others that we may introduce in the future, please contact Tommy Milgrew:

OnPath Energy

Yesterday we received a visit from OnPath Energy who helped us to learn more about Renewable Energy as part of our Clean Green journey.

We have been invited to take part in a competition to name one of their Wind Farms they have been approved for. The company wish to mark the heritage and significance of the sites to our local community and its mining history. Try to keep this in mind when coming up with your chosen name.

Sheets will be sent home before the end of the week but must be returned by Monday 9th June to be entered into the competition.

P7 Residential 2025

Our P7s and accompanying staff had the best time and made memories that will last a lifetime!

We had such a busy few days, and enjoyed a huge variety of activities ranging from Paddleboarding and Windsurfing to Archery and Team Building.

We feasted like kings and queens with rolls and sausage/bacon/egg for breakfast, soup and rolls for lunch, and burgers and pizza for dinner (in addition to the numerous snacks and endless cups of tea!)

A huge thank you to all the great staff and instructors at the Galloway Activity Centre!

Please keep an eye on Learning Journals for more uploads from Mrs Frew.  Here is a wee taster of photos below.

Swimming Lessons

We are extremely grateful to our wonderful Parent Council who were successful in being granted funding from the Small Wind Farms, which was used to cover the cost of swimming lessons for the whole school.

Swimming is a life skill, and water safety is something we, as a school, are keen to promote and support across all stages.

We are very fortunate that we have a super swimming facility within walking distance of our school.

Each child in our school was granted a 4 week block of swimming lessons at no cost to our families, something we know everyone will be extremely grateful for.

We were extremely impressed with the number of participants we had in each class at their weekly lesson and know our children had lots of fun taking part.
