School Show 2024

After the success of last year’s Oliver JR… The moment we have all been waiting for… the announcement of next year’s School Show…

We can’t wait to bring you…

HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL JR!!!

Please find dates and times below for the audition process to take place:

Fri 10th Nov 3-4pm – Auditions will be held in school

Fri 17th Nov 3-4pm – Cast list will be announced

Fri 24th Nov, Fri 1st Dec & Fri 8th Dec – Song rehearsals

Fri 12th Jan and each Friday thereafter from 3-4pm rehearsals will take place in school with the show being held on 18th and 19th June 2024.

It is important that children who register their interest to be part of our school show are dedicated and committed to attending each rehearsal.

Our school show is open to children in P4-7. To register your child’s interest please complete the contact for below and support them at home to ensure they are fully prepared to audition on the 10th Nov if they are keen for a main part.

The show has 12 main parts with lots of opportunities for children to be part of the chorus.

If your child is keen to be part of the show but in relation to staging, make up, costume, or music, we will be seeking support with this nearer the time and will reach out to pupils then.

Summary of Improvement Plan

Raising Attainment, particularly in Literacy and Numeracy	Increased in sustained positive destinations and employability skills
We will improve teaching and learning of reading across the school by: · Purchasing and implementing suitable and relevant texts to improve reading. · Organising staff training for reading. · Participating in the Scottish Book Trust’s ‘Reading Schools’ accreditation. · Reviewing the reading section of our Literacy Policy.	By working in partnership with universities and companies, children will develop a better understanding of further education and training opportunities to develop skills for work, learning and life. They will also consider how these opportunities support the national context of the current and future workforce in Scotland.
Ensuring the health and wellbeing of all young people	Closing the poverty related attainment gap
The whole school community will develop their knowledge and understanding of the Relationships, Sexual Health and Parenting section of the Health and Wellbeing curriculum. As a result they will feel more confident about the delivery of it and as a result support each other to ensure effective implementation.	Class teachers will make effective use of personal information, as well as assessment information when planning supports and next steps in learning in a bid to raise attainment in numeracy and mathematics.

Anti-Bullying Week

This week we will raise awareness of Anti-Bullying Week.

Parents/carers have access to lots of support and guidance here. There are podcasts, videos and a variety of activities to access.

This week, each class will be involved in designing a poster in line with the theme, ‘listen up’. As well as this, everyone will design their own bunting which will be collated in order to create a whole school display of unity.

The campaign manifesto:

The impact of bullying can be profound and can have serious short and long term effects on the physical, emotional and mental wellbeing of children and young people. We must be clear that bullying is a violation of children’s rights.

Children need to be protected from bullying behaviour so that they can survive, develop and participate in a fulfilling life. As adults, we all have an important role to play to help protect and fulfil these rights by creating opportunities for young people to participate in decision making on matters that affect them.

From teachers and professionals to parents and carers, we all have a responsibility to consider the needs of children and young people. We are calling on everyone to ‘Listen Up!’ and respect the rights of children and young people by putting children’s rights at the heart of all effective responses to bullying.

Across Scotland, we will be asking children and young people in schools, youth settings and at home, to engage with the campaign theme by taking part in our class-based lessons, through art, drama and dance, and through our new youth-led activities exploring themes of children’s rights within the context of bullying and kindness.

PE kits

A reminder of class PE days can be found in the ‘Important Information’ section above.

PE kit must be brought in to school on these days. (This can be left in school bags or hanging on pegs in a kit bag).

Shorts and suitable indoor shoes are required. No football strips allowed. Older children may find it more comfortable having a change of top to change in to too.

It would be helpful if jewellery was removed and long hair tied back on these days too.

Failure to have the correct kit, will mean your child cannot participate in PE.
