JRSO Seminar 2025 – Update
We would like to start off by saying a BIG THANK YOU to Travis’s Mum for dropping us off in Troon to meet Miss McMillan for our JRSO Seminar that was attended by various schools throughout the 3 Ayrshire Authorities.
We all had a great morning learning lots of new things all related to road safety. When we arrived, we were put into the yellow group with other schools. There were 6 different stations that we would spend time at.
The first session was spent talking about how to be safe around large vehicles such as lorries and buses. We watched a slide show and had a good discussion with our group about the dangers these large vehicles pose to us.
We then went onto the stage for some drama/role play. At first it was a bit embarrassing doing it, but then we got stuck in and it was our favourite part!! We were playing traffic light games and buzz games. It was really fun, and it helped us become friends with the other school pupils.
After being on the stage, it was time to go outside with Fiona who is one of the staff members from Ayrshire Roads Alliance. We had to wear a Hi-Viz vest and we were given a clipboard with road signs and pictures. We went out and discussed all the signs we could see as well as looking at various places that would be safe to cross. We looked at junctions as well as the lines painted on the road and the importance of them.
Snack time…..phew, we were all thirsty and hungry at this point, so we were provided with a snack and Miss McMillan also brought something for us too!
Next up was us receiving this year’s challenge. Last year, the JRSO Team were challenged with the 5 Star Award. This year is a Challenge Campaign. The 3 Ayrshire Authorities have come together to highlight the dangers of 3 topics, so look out for our information throughout the year. Our first one will be about the dangers of E-Scooters.
After receiving our challenge, we then went to the Digital station. This is where we accessed the JRSO website on Glow. It is available for all pupils, so feel free to have a nosey at the useful website. It is full of very useful hints and tips about road safety. There’s a member’s section that only we can access. This is where we can reach out to the other JRSO Teams and share ideas and good practice.
Our last station before heading back to school was the arts and crafts area. This is where we were to create a poster highlighting the importance of seat belts.
As you can see, we were involved in an action-packed morning that is vital for our journey. The information we received will be used throughout our road safety journey and we cant wait to share lots of things with you all…..including a competition that we are already planning!!
Thank you to all the Ayrshire Road Alliance staff that put on the great seminar and thank you to Mrs Beveridge who picked us up to bring us back to school.
We look forward to sharing our learning with you
From Travis, Grace, Harry & Amber

Last session, East Ayrshire Council introduced a new Cashless Catering system in our school.
Catering Services recognised that it was time to update their cashless payment system. They researched and engaged with companies to find a system that is straightforward and easy for you to use. They have also ensured that the system utilises the latest technology available.
The new ordering system will therefore make the process quicker for your child at lunchtime and by ordering in advance will help Catering Services reach climate change targets by reducing food waste.
All meals will be ordered by parents through ParentPay, using your existing ParentPay login. If you are a new parent, ParentPay account details will be shared with you soon.
The system is easy to use. You will log in to ParentPay and select school meals. Then all you have to do is check the menus, select a meal for your child, then they collect it at lunchtime as normal.
Meals must be ordered by 8am and can be ordered up to three weeks in advance. Please ensure your child’s lunch is ordered before returning to school on Wednesday 20th August.
The link below will take you to an instructional video on how to book school meals.

Additional allergen and dietary information:
The system has improved allergy and dietary management, so you can be confident that special dietary requirements are observed. Make sure this information is up to date by contacting us.
If you have provided current dietary information for your child, this will be updated on the new system and will block any meal choices that contain approved allergens.
The system is also a useful information tool for parents and carers in displaying allergen information linked to each online menu item this includes all information for pupils following religious and lifestyle diets.
I would like to say a huge THANK YOU to my 5 Star Award Winning Team of Reuben, Erica, Daniel & Charlotte for being such wonderful JRSO ambassadors for our school. They worked so hard throughout the year and made my job of leading them a breeze!!!
Thank you to ALL the incredible NRPS Staff Team and Pupils for their support along the way. We couldn’t have done it without you.
We had lots of laughs and still managed to deliver the importance of Road Safety to our peers, families and the local community.
The last part of this year’s journey was to choose our new team for August, and I look forward to introducing them to you in the new term.
Have a wonderful summer!
From Reuben, Erica, Daniel, Charlotte & Miss McMillan 💜

From Tuesday 22nd April 2025 we are introducing a new Cashless Catering system in your child’s school.
Catering Services recognised that it was time to update their cashless payment system. They researched and engaged with companies to find a system that is straightforward and easy for you to use. They have also ensured that the system utilises the latest technology available.

The system will be easy to use. You will log in to ParentPay and select school meals. Then all you have to do is check the menus, select a meal for your child, then they collect it at lunchtime as normal.
ParentPay knows if your child qualifies for a free school meal so you can order with the knowledge that no payment is required. If your child pays for their school meal, you will have to make payment within 2 hours of the meal being ordered.
Meals must be ordered by 8am and can be ordered up to three weeks in advance.
You will be able to make your first meal bookings on ParentPay on the evening of Friday 11th April.
