Health focus

This Thursday and Friday will look a little different as we take a focus on our Health and Wellbeing. The tasks that will be assigned for these days will look at the social, emotional and mental well being of our children with some fun acitivites to be completed along the way. There will also be some outdoor learning ( weather permitting) so if your child attends school on these days , then please ensure they are wrapped up for the weather.  An example of a time table for these two days will be sent to you by the class teachers.  As always, thank you for your on going support.

Primary 3 – Mrs Strachan 💙

Hello to the new primary 3 class! ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜

My name is Mrs Strachan.  👩🏻‍🏫 This year i have taught primary four. I am very excited to be your new class teacher and I cannot wait to meet you all in August!  Mrs Dunsmore has told me all about the fabulous  hard work you do and has said that you are all  SUPERSTARS! 🌟

Here is a little video and some photos of your new Primary 3 classroom.  I can’t wait to decorate it with you. 🥰🌈 I’d love you to send me some ideas of how we should create our new classroom door display to welcome everyone to our room.  I’d also like to know what you would like our new class charter to look like? Last year our class had a Lego theme.

I hope you have a lovely summer!

Take care,
Mrs Strachan xo 😘

Final Week!

We cannot believe it has arrived! The final week! A huge well done to all families for sticking with it, especially our young people working hard and getting on with their learning activities! It may not have always been easy but we are immensely proud of all of you!

All our hard work is paying off and proof of this is that Scotland have now entered Phase 2;  here is a child friendly version…

We have all played a part in getting the country here!

(Phase 2 is a staggered phase so please check government guidelines for exact dates).

We hope you enjoyed #ThrowbackThursday…more to come this week!

Monday!

We hope that you all had a lovely weekend and a lovely week enjoying sports and heath activities. Another week of learning and only a couple to go before the holidays!

This Thursday the teachers will participate in #ThrowbackThursday, where staff share their highlights of this (unusual) year! Check it out on the well-being blog!

We are still all in this together, although it’s a while since we have been side by side…

Here are some ways to stay positive…

And finally some Monday Motivation…

Inside Out!

Paths Emotions

We all know we feel things on the inside, which shows on the outside. Our paths challenge this week was to try and identify some of the feelings we may experience by looking at facial expressions.
Did you manage to guess what some of our Mount Carmel Staff were feeling?

1: calm  2: angry  3: excited  4: tired

5: shocked  6: happy  7: scared  8: sad

Henrietta our PATHs Hedgehog has this lovely song about feelings. Why not try singing this with Henrietta at home?

As always, stay safe and take care. Together we are Team MC!

Healthy Minds!

As it is health week there will be lots of fun, fab activities for everyone to try out! Remember a healthy mind is just as important as a healthy body! Here are some activities to try throughout the week.

Some lovely ideas! There will also be lots of fun, healthy activities on your learning grids this week too. Now all we need is SUNSHINE!

Finally…some Monday Motivation…

A new month!

June has arrived! And it has brought with it lots of sunny weather! Everyone at MCPS hopes that all our families are enjoying the sunshine and making happy memories. We understand that some days are easier than others and always tell the children that all feelings are ok and all feelings are temporary. Remember…

We are already making great progress! That is because of everyone coming together as a huge community. This poster explains Phase 1 to children in child friendly language:

Support from the team at PATHS – consult the coach

We realise that the current situation can be challenging for everyone, both adults and children and we are eager to support you as best we can as we face these challenges together.

As part of our Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) our coach from Barnardo’s Scotland, who supports the implementation of the PATHS® programme in school will be taking questions relating to the Social and Emotional Health and Wellbeing of parents, children and family members.

If you or your child have any questions regarding challenges you are currently experiencing, perhaps dealing with difficult feelings or behaviours in your home or dealing with new challenges presented by staying at home, you can send us your question and our coach from Barnardo’s will respond. As always, if you have a particular concern regarding your child that you want to discuss please contact the school directly.

Morning!

Another week of learning and making memories with your families. Hopefully the good weather will return for lots of garden adventures.  This week is National Mental Health Week, some excellent resources available on the Education Scotland website.  A few quick tips if any children require support…

Proud Cloud!

Proud Cloud!       claire.crawford@eastayrshire.org.uk

We have so many reasons to be proud of ourselves and others during these unusual times. We loved seeing the ‘Shout Outs’ over the last few weeks and would like to give you the opportunity to shine once more. Below is an example of a ‘Proud Cloud’. It details things that fill you with pride, it can be about a family member or a friend and can also be about you! Staff will also be completing Proud Clouds for you to see.  If you email me your Proud Cloud (with parent/carer permission) I will share them on the Wellbeing Blog on a Thursday;  we are desperate to hear about your amazing achievements, BIG or small. Include your name (FIRST NAME ONLY) and class on your cloud.

We are proud of you all. Stay Safe. Together we are Team MC.
