A Final Message

Hello boys and girls!

Thank you so much for taking part in our transition activities over the past few months. We have loved getting to know you more and tell you and your families all about our wonderful school!

We hope you enjoyed coming to collect your extra special MC welcome bags on Wednesday. If you didn’t manage to come along don’t worry, Marty will look after your bags for you over the holidays and you can get them on your first day at school.

Have a fantastic summer with your families. Hopefully we get some more hot days like yesterday! We can’t wait to see you all in August, so until then here are some final messages just for you…

Lots of love Mrs Duff, Mrs Dunsmore and Mrs McGahon xxx

Final Assembly Friday 26th June

Hello boys and girls and welcome to our final assembly of the year.

Let us begin today by taking some time to pause and speak to God. Fr Martin had filmed a final prayer and his thoughts for the year,

Thank you Fr Martin – you have such a special way with other children, we know how much joy you bring by taking the time to share your thoughts and prayers with us.

Thank you to Mrs Crawford and all of our staff for our Throwback Thursday. Follow this link for the most up-to-date items.

Now today we have some special words from out Head Teacher Mrs McConville.

Dear Boys and Girls,

At our last learning assembly I want to look back at some of the wonderful things that have happened in Mount Carmel this session.

When I came to our school in October the inspectors had just visited again. They said that everyone had worked really hard to make the school better and they didn’t need to come back to visit us again. This made us all really happy.

We said a sad goodbye to Mr Forsyth but his gift of the disco ball means he will always be part of the Mount Carmel family.

The Hallowe’en discos were a spooky success. I have never seen such brilliant costumes.

You worked hard to earn house points up to Christmas. The House Captains and Vice Captains making sure you did your best at assembly and keeping track of the totals. The winning House Red enjoyed a trip to the cinema to see Toy Story 4. We didn’t tell them we had a great time back in the school that day too watching the Lion King!

Our trip to the Palace Theatre was a great success despite the horrible weather that day. It was extra special for the lucky children who got to be on stage, Indigo and Liam will remember Cinderella for a long time.

The Christmas Fayre was incredible. I have never seen so many people in the hall. Families were so generous donating things to The Friends of Mount Carmel who organised the Fayre and the discos. A huge sum of money was raised and the FOMC have been most generous buying us a new Coomber, microphones and yummy things for our discos, not forgetting the selection boxes. No that’s not right the selection boxes came from someone else! Thanks for coming to Mount Carmel this year Santa and please come back next year.

The pantomime was great (Oh no it wasn’t, Oh yes it was) but the best show all year was the Infant Nativity. All the boys and girls worked very hard, but not as hard as the teachers J Such talent; it was amazing. I know the adults who came to see it loved it as much as I did.

Primary 7 had an extra special time at Lockerby Manor. I am sure they will remember all those exciting activities for a very long time. I know Miss Mudge and Mr B will.

There have been lots of activities for everyone this year. It’s hard to remember them but I will try, swimming, cycling, community time, Magic Mount Carmel, EuroQuiz, Knex, Class Assemblies, rugby, football, multisport, parties, discos, choir. Apologies if I have missed out your favourite, there was just so much going on.

Other two goodbyes we had to say this year were to Mr McMillan and Bill. The best Jannie and Lollypop Man in the world. We will miss them both.

Throughout the year we have had the opportunity to visit Our Lady of Mount Carmel on many occasions. It is always lovely to see how well behaved and respectful you are when we are in Church. It was a special year for some of our P4s who received the Sacraments of Confirmation and Reconciliation. I want to thank Fr Martin for everything he does for us. He is a special part of our family here in Mount Carmel.

Well boys and girls our year didn’t end the way we expected. We have really missed you over the past few months and are looking forward to seeing you all in August. Welcome to our new Primary 1s and farewell to our Primary 7s.

There are many people I want to thank for making me feel so welcome as your head teachers. The Parent Council for being so supportive. All the teachers and support staff who are amazing. Mrs Fergusson and Mrs Mc Gahon, my two right hand women I couldn’t do without. Finally boys and girls I want to thank you and your families for making this the best school ever.

Have a lovely holiday and I will see you in August.

Love Mrs McConville x

As our assembly comes to an end today we have one final video to share. Thank you for participating in our Sports Day – Please welcome our Sports Day Champions.

Boys and girls we love and miss you all. Have a great summer and we will see you all in August.

Stay safe, with love

A challenge for our brand new primary 4

Hello boys and girls,
You will by now have received Mrs McIntyre’s email about helping to create a memory wall.  We hope to hear from you over the summer and will collect the memory photos, emails or videos as part of a display for our classroom.  We are hoping this will be part of a show and tell activity on our return in August.  This will look wonderful in our classroom.  A brand new primary 4 sharing their favourite memories and creating a lovely display.
You will also have noticed the dance challenge!!  We want you to have fun over the summer holidays and would love to see if you can ‘Beat the Teachers’ 😂  You can recreate our dance, create your own or do a routine you already know.  Be sure to video your dance and check with parents if you can email your routine to us.  We cant wait to see them.  Have a look at ours:
Have the best summer.  Have lots of fun and we are so looking forward to seeing you all in August.  We will have so much to share and talk about.  Our dancing and memory wall will be fantastic!!

Take care and stay safe

Class of 2020

This morning we said our final farewells to the Primary 7’s. We were able to have them back into the school for a gift presentation. It was lovely seeing them all and how grown up they all look. It has been a different farewell this year but they will always hold a special place in MCPS hearts for being the ‘Lockdown’ Class of 2020.

We are so proud of them and wish them all the best at St Joseph’s.

A message from our Head Teacher

As we reach the end of a very strange term I would like to thank all families for their continued support of Mount Carmel Primary School. In my post in tomorrow’s Home Learning Assembly I recall some of the highlights of the time since I joined the school in mid-October. It has been a rollercoaster of a year filled with so many great memories. I would like to thank all my staff who work tirelessly to make the experiences for your children the best they can be. I hope they have a well-deserved, restful holiday.
I wish you and your family a happy and safe holiday. I look forward to welcoming everyone back to Mount Carmel PS in August.

Kindest regards

Carole

If you don’t know me, please don’t worry as  I am super excited to get to know you as your teacher along with Mrs Travers on a Thursday and Friday. Our New Primary 4!

A big hello to our brand-new primary 4 class. I have really missed being in school with everyone over the last few months and I am really looking forward to being back with you all in August and being your primary 4 teacher!

I thought it might be useful to have a look at what our classroom may look like come August. The classroom might look quite different to our normal classroom set up, but we will support you all on our return and make the transition back to school as easy on you as possible.

I would love to hear from you, so please send me a message and say hello. Here is a little ‘hello’ from me:

Hello Primary 6

Hello ‘soon to be’ Primary 6,

I was so happy when I heard I was getting Primary 6 – I had a huge smile on my face.

I’ve been busy getting your new classroom ready and I’ve been planning lots of lovely activities (and a Novel Study) for when you return in August.

I know you’ve seen me around the school and have known me as the Primary 7 teacher for the last 2 years but I’ve recorded a short message to remind you what I look like in case you’ve forgot!  Scroll down for the video.

I’ve also put some photos of what you’re new classroom will look like in August. It’s just missing all of your beautiful work.

I have sent a group email with a Summer challenge for you all.

I can’t wait to see you all in August. Have a lovely Summer.

The New P6/7

Hello to everyone in the new primary 6/7 class!

Last year I had taught P5 with Mrs McIntyre and also taught HWB with other classes.  But this year I will have you all to myself!  I am excited to be your new class teacher and can’t wait to get started.  The class is still a bit bare but you will help me decorate it with all your hard work.  One of the first jobs we will do together is create our class charter, so if you have any cool ideas, send me an email and we might use yours for our display.

Having taught most of you before, I’m looking forward to working with you again in August.  I’ve uploaded a wee video so you remember what my face looks like as it’s been so long since we’ve been at school! (I may have a few extra wrinkles!)  There’s also a few pictures of what the class will look like.

Enjoy your summer holidays and I will see you ready to go in August.

I hope you are all taking care. I have been busy getting ready for your return to school in August. I am really missing you all and hope you all have a brilliant summer. Here are some photographs of what the Willow room will look like in August. I know that the classrooms look very different but I do not want you to worry. Emoji Code Breaker

As part of our Paths programme, we have talked a lot about the different emotions we experience, how it looks and how it feels, inside and outside our bodies.

Using  our cute paths friends and some emoji’s we are familiar with, can you decode the hidden message?  This is a challenge for you all to try at home and parents can help our infant pupils if they are finding this challenging.

Have fun!  Can you decode the hidden message?  Let me now if you managed to work it out:

Final Week!

We cannot believe it has arrived! The final week! A huge well done to all families for sticking with it, especially our young people working hard and getting on with their learning activities! It may not have always been easy but we are immensely proud of all of you!

All our hard work is paying off and proof of this is that Scotland have now entered Phase 2;  here is a child friendly version…

We have all played a part in getting the country here!

(Phase 2 is a staggered phase so please check government guidelines for exact dates).

We hope you enjoyed #ThrowbackThursday…more to come this week!
