The P4-7s made animated seasonal banners for our blog, see below for the current batch. They worked on their designs with Mrs Starkey and then we scanned the backgrounds and sprites and animated them in 2animate.
Last term was so busy we almost forgot to blog, though we’ll got caught back up as we have lots of great learning and experiences to share.
First up here is a Photostory by Faith and Lucy of how we put together our Christmas Eve show:

Primary 1 to 3 have been doing a lot of work on nursery ryhme characters, particularly Mary Mary. They made a model of her garden, and then wrote a story and acted it out using toy characters to make an animation. They worked very hard and we hope you enjoy it.

The new JRSO’s (Teri and Lucy) did a poster competition of the new term. Most of the school entered and we had to pick four winners two from the small class and two from the big class. The winners were Cassidy, Sandy, Finlay and Saskia.
When learning about Electricity we discovered that electrons are conducted in a circuit. Electron and electricity are related words. When discussing this Fergus noticed that tron is also a part of the word electron. Tron is a game that some pupils have been playing during break based on the film Tron Legacy. This got us thinking about the film and the class (especially) Teri came up with some ideas to work on. One was making a Tron design like the ones in the slide show below.

To make these pictures we researched video and images from the film. Mr Archibald noticed that one of the P7s had accidentally inverted the colours on one of the banners for this blog (see if you can spot it) – which produced an interesting effect. White turns to black and colours change – dull ones become bright. With that in mind Cameron and Lucy experimented with some different colours of card, scanned them and then inverted the colours, using MS Paint. This gave us an idea of the colours to use. Next Mr Archibald made a couple of examples using two different colours. You can see the original pictures below which were made on white paper with felt tip pens and cut out coloured paper. You can then see what happens when after you scan the picture and invert the colours in MS Paint. I also brightened up the colour in MS Office Picture manager.
