OneDrive via Safari on an iPad

It has come to our attention that when you log into Glow via Safari on an iPad and try to view OneDrive users are faced with a blank screen.

This issue is linked to the Pupil Profile that has been added to the iPad. The issue doesn’t happen when using an iPad with a Teacher Profile.

I have logged a call with IT and they are currently looking into a fix. I will update this post when I get more information.

Issue should now be resolved 23/06/2016

Annual Glow Survey

Passport graphicEducation Scotland’s Glow Annual Survey launched yesterday and will remain open until the 1st July 2016. The survey is important as it allows Education Scotland to understand more about how their customers use Glow and where improvements can be made.

The Learning Through Technology Team are the local Aberdeenshire Glow Key Contacts and we would encourage to you to fill in the survey
All responses collected are anonymous.

If you would like to go straight to the staff survey, it can be found at: https://www.research.net/r/glow2016staff

Glow Logins

TileFor those staff and students that have not logged into Glow for over 3 years you are missing some really high tech and cutting edge features in Office 365 and Glow.

The RM unify interface once you have logged in gives instant access via clicking a tile to lots of frequently used resources and applications.

Finding and using resources created by educators around Scotland are now easier to find and use, and it is also very easy to share resources created by either you or you students.

Your Glow username remains the same, but your password may have expired if you have not logged in for over 3 years, so please ask the Glow administrator in your school to reset your password, once this is done the new password you create remains in place, and even if you forget it you can reset it yourself via an email.

Please log in and have a look you will be surprised at how up to date , and user friendly new Glow is.

Yammer

Yammer went live in Glow last term.

Yammer is a social networking service that is part of Microsoft O365. Yammer enables users to take part in conversations about topics within groups which have members. It replaces the newsfeed functionality.

More information re the use of Yammer can be found via the link below.

Help with Glow

Yammer can be accessed via the Aberdeenshire Launchpad

Twig and TigTag

Tigtag and Twig online resources are currently accessible via the Glow login and are used by schools across Scotland.  These award-winning resources provide high-quality videos and accompanying learning materials for sciences, mathematics and social studies. They were procured by Education Scotland in July 2015.  The contract was for one year initially with the possibility of a one year extension.

Education Scotland and Twig World have agreed to this one year extension which means that both Twig and Tigtag, and also TigTag Junior and Reach Out CPD, will continue to be available to state schools through Glow until 31st July  2017.

It will not be possible for Education Scotland to extend the contract further beyond this date.

Scotland Excel, the local authority procurement organisation, will include Education Software and Digital Content as an additional lot within their re-tender of their Education Materials framework with a start date of 1st April 2017.  It will therefore be for local authorities to purchase digital content via this route in the future.

OneNote profiling tile

Great news! At last after direct work from Microsoft and from RM the Template for the digital profiling and profile tool is now available on Glow.

Tile

Log into Glow and access the Aberdeenshire App Library ( Shown on above image with red text “New”)

The learner would click on the Aberdeenshire Council E-Portfolio tile, and a profiling template will be created in the learners OneDrive in Glow.

This process takes about 2-3 minutes, so best to only get a few learners at a time to generate the template, or ask for this as a homework task.

Detailed information on using the tile and the profiling and profile process will be emailed to schools next week.

RM Unify Update

Issue now resolved 13:00 19th Jan 2016

RM Unify Launchpad updated last night and the new interface looks fantastic.

However, it has come to our attention that all our School Site tiles link to Aberdeenshire Council and not the appropriate school.

This has been logged with RM and they are currently working on a fix.

In the meantime, please click on any other Office 365 tile and use the navigation to locate Sites. If you are following your school site (this is recommended) then you will see a link there.

I will update this post when the issue has been resolved.

Remember to check out Aberdeenshire’s Launchpad by clicking on the red “New” icon on the left.

OneDrive on Curricular Machines

Issue has now been resolved 12th January 2016

It has come to our attention that OneDrive is not loading correctly on curricular computers.

When a user tries to open OneDrive the top ribbon appears but the content is missing. We think that Chrome is trying to download a OneDrive plugin from the Chrome Store and that this download is being blocked.

IT are currently working on a fix for this but you can access OneDrive with Internet Explorer in the meantime.

Aberdeenshire Learner’s Site

We have now created an Aberdeenshire Learner’s Site in Glow.

This site will be ideal for sharing resources that our learners create in school and will be an opportunity for our learners to collaborate with students across Aberdeenshire.

There is a link to this site on Aberdeenshire Council Site and from Aberdeenshire Council LaunchPad on RM Unify. We would be grateful if you could please share this site with your students and ask them to “Follow” the site.
