World Book Day

The “Swap a Book”, organised by the Pupil Learning Council, was a great success. On World Book Day pupils and staff were able to choose a book from the many books that had been bought into school of the day.

It was an excellent way to “recycle” books that we no longer wanted, and to allow others to enjoy those books too.

The books that are left over will be sold next week for 10p and 20p..

Celtic Soup

How to make Celtic soup

Last week we made Celtic soup. We put in, two carrots, one leek, one stick of celery, parsley, ¼ of turnip, ½ cups of broth mix, 2 cups of water.

This is how to make the soup:1.First carefully peel the carrots.2.next slice the turnip up.3.After that chop the celery stick.4.then take off the skin of the leek then cut.5.Slice the carrots in half then slice the rest.6.Add the broth mix and the water to the pan.7.Put all of the ingredients in the pan with the broth mix and the water.8.After that cook the soup on a low heat for about 2 hours.9Then enjoy your home made soup.

And we made it in the Deveron building and we had fun making the soup.

New Tour Guides

Some of the p5s have worked very hard to pass their audition and have been chosen to become Huntly Castle Junior Tour Guides for when they come up to p6. They are now busy learning their scripts and getting training on how to be a good Tour guide. They have chosen their costumes, which are  really pretty. The launch of the new tourguides will take place some time in June.

Meanwhile the present p6 tour guides have started taking tours again. The week the are doing a tour for pupils who are travelling all the way from Dyce Primary School.

Fairtrade elections

The fairtrade elections are being held this week. Two people from each class will be elected as Fairtrtade rep and a fairtrade vice rep. Candidates will have to make a speech to their class, explaining why they would make a good fairtrade representative.

The Fairtrade representatives  attend meetings and take part in the fairtrade school events like the fairtade tuck shop. They also make decisions about fairtrade activities in the school. Its fun being part of the fairtrade group.
