Nursery news

Recently the nursery classes have been learning about the forest.  A forest ranger came in and taught them about different animals.  They also went down to the woods to have some art and craft fun. They all made brillant bougles ( faces made out of clay and put on the trees.)  Also they made marvellous masks and took them home to show their mums and dads. After they had finished the masks they all played a game where they would try to find different coloured pipe cleaners to see which colours they could be easily spotted. They did this so they could see why different animals have different patterns on their skin to keep them hidden from prey. All of them had great fun.

Nursery News

Down at the nursery they have been looking at growing. For part of that they have been talking teddies home with them and learning how to brush their teeth and tuck them into their beds and how to get them ready for going to nursery. Moira Auchnie, the health Visitor came in to talk to the children about looking after young babies. The nursery pupils were asked to bring in a picture of  them as a baby  to see how have changed and grown up. They have also been looking at how to measure themselves and also how to use themselves to measure things outside and inside.

Outside in the nursery garden they have been able to experience looking after babies, washing clothes, hanging them out to dry, cooking meals and serving them up.

Last week a forest commissioner came in to talk to  them about the forest and creatures in the forest.  They really enjoyed learning about wildlife in the forest.

The nursery went to local shops to find Fairtrade products. They enjoyed looking for food with the fairtrade logo. When they went to the local shops they bought some biscuits for them to eat. They also got some bananas to eat as well. They saw the sign in the window of the Stewarts hall telling us that Huntly is a Fairtrade town. They sat down and talked about fairtrade and fairtrade products .

Back in the nursery they made snack using the fairtrade products that they bought,  including some yummy fruit kebabs!

Some of the P6 fairtrade representatives went to the nursery to tell the children about the work of the school fairtrade group and about fairtrade fortnight. The nursery children also  bought bananas from the fairtrade banana tuckshop in the school.

Nursery

The nursery children have been making puppets at home with their parents. They also built a car for Mr Mole so he can get home and they have been introducing Mr Mole to new friends. They have all been very kind to him.  They have been telling everyone about their  animal, like what its name is, what it is and loads more about their animal. There teachers were very impressed and very pleased with their animals.

The Nursery

Down  in the nursey they had a visiter called Mr. Mole. He came from the woods and the nursery  tried to get Mr  Mole to go back to the woods by leading a carrot trail.  Mr. Mole couldnt  follow the trail back because birds had  ate it, So then they made a chalk trail,  However it disappeared too, So the nursery took him to the nursery garden and are building  a little house for him to live and play in . They were very excited when they found the mole in the garden because they like having visitors in their classroom and in their garden. They are excited about how Mr Mole is getting to stay in the nursery with them.
