SPTC News e-update – July 2014

Summer holidays are well underway for all youngsters in Scotland and we’re sure you’re all busy as ever! We are working hard preparing for the Scottish Learning Festival in September – details of how to register are below.

Handing over to next committee – checklist
We’ve produced a new leaflet for members of SPTC all about handing over information to new committee members as more experienced members step down. Members can access the leaflet on our website along with resources on a variety of different topics. 

No Named Person Conference
The Christian Institute has lodged papers at the Court of Session formally challenging the Named Person plans. You can read more about the No To Named Person campaign group on their website or have a look at the news coverage on SPTC’s media page.   

SCVO equality internship opportunity
SCVO in partnership with BEMIS, CEMVO, Scottish Disability Equality Forum and Inclusion Scotland are creating up to 150 paid internship positions within third sector organisations for unemployed graduates. You can have a look at all the opportunities on the SCVO website.

Parents Connect
 

This September SPTC and National Parent Forum of Scotland will host ‘Parents Connect’ at the Scottish Learning Festival in Glasgow. It’s absolutely free to attend and you can register on the website. We’ll keep you posted about what we’ll be doing so watch this space!

Leaflet for Parent Councils

SPTC and easyfundraising have produced a leaflet together designed for Parent Councils. It runs through the sign-up process and explains exactly how parent groups can use easyfundraising to raise money. It also gives handy hints for getting people on board. Parents’ Voice Report

We received an overwhelming response from our most recent Parents’ Voice survey on the place of religion in schools. Over 1300 parents gave us their views and as always the results we received provoked much discussion – have a look on our website for the full report.
