Our topic this term is dinosaurs and we are raising lots of money to have the Natural History museum in Scotland come and visit us! We have carried out a bingo, a map quest and a sponsored walk. We have also started a floorbook of learning. We have been busy creating a dinosaur display for our classroom complete with palaeontologist lab!
Having talked about the extinction of the dinosaurs and the asteroid, we investigated how impact craters were made. We looked at some craters that you can see on the Earth and looked at the moon’s surface. Our idea was that the bigger craters were caused by bigger asteroids so we tested this out with a variety of balls, marbles and rocks. We also changed the angle of impact to see what difference this made.
We loved having the museum visit and learning about dinosaurs!
