Below are steps for setting up Seesaw at home and additional resources to help you support your child.
SEESAW FOR FAMILIES
Families connect to their child’s Seesaw journal to participate in their student’s learning, see student work, and celebrate progress.
Families can connect to their child’s journal on the web (app.seesaw.me) or by downloading the Seesaw App, available on iOS and Android.
When families connect to their child’s journal, they can only see their individual child’s work, or group projects that their child is tagged in.
🧰 Seesaw requires an invite from your child’s teacher in order to sign up. Your child’s teacher will provide you with a paper, email, or text invite (the invite will include a QR code or link). If you do not have this please contact your child’s teacher.
💡 Good to know: up to 10 family members can connect to one child’s journal!
There are a few ways that you can connect to your student’s journal: through an email invitation, via an individualised QR Code, or through a shared invite link. However, your teacher will need to initiate the invitation before you can connect to your student’s journal. If you do not have an invitation, please reach out to your teacher to get the process started.
For paper invites:
- Look for a handout from your child’s teacher.
- Open Seesaw.
- Tap I’m a Family Member.
- Tap Create Family Account
- Tap Scan QR code.
- Hold up the QR code to your camera.
- Sign up with an email address and password.
- Tap Confirm.
- You are now connected to your child’s journal!
For email invites:
- Check your email for an invitation from your child’s teacher.
- Tap on the button or link to connect to your student’s journal. DO NOT share the invitation with others.
- Sign up with an email address and password.
- You are now connected to your child’s journal!
For text message invites:
- Check your mobile device for a text message invitation from your child’s teacher.
- Tap the link.
- Sign up with an email address and password.
- You are now connected to your child’s journal!
Seesaw Frequently asked questions
View our brief video to learn how to log in, connect to your child’s journal and engage with their learning. Please note messaging the teacher is not available in school at this time, you can only receive messages from the teacher.
PRIVACY
- Families only have access to their child’s journal. This means you will see student work tagged with your child’s name and posts the teacher tags with ‘Everyone’.
- Families will also be able to see any comment made by another user on their child’s journal posts (including comments by other students).
- Family members cannot access any other student’s content unless you have added another child in your family to your account.

The Home view is the default view for family members once they are logged into Seesaw. From this view, family members have access to Messages, Journals, and Notifications.
