Attendance and Absence
Good attendance is very important and helps children make the most of their learning and experiences at school.
Bowmore Primary uses an electronic registration system. Attendance is recorded twice each day:
-
once in the morning
-
again after lunch
If your child is absent from school, please contact the school before 9:30am on the first day of absence to let us know the reason. This can be done by telephone or by sending a message to the school.
When your child returns to school, please provide a written explanation for the absence so that it can be recorded as an authorised absence.
Your support in helping us maintain accurate attendance records is greatly appreciated.
Argyll and Bute Guidance
Bowmore Primary follows the Argyll and Bute Council guidance on school attendance. This guidance supports schools and families in promoting regular attendance and ensuring children receive the full benefit of their education.
School Uniform

At Bowmore Primary School we encourage pupils to wear school uniform as it helps create a sense of belonging and pride in our school community.
Our school uniform colours are:
-
Skirt or trousers:Navy or black
-
Sweater or cardigan: Navy blue
-
Shirt or blouse: White
-
School tie: Blue striped Bowmore school tie
School ties can be purchased from the school office:
-
Velcro tie: £9
-
Traditional tie: £6 (prices correct as of September 2024)
Black jogging bottoms or leggings may also be worn as a comfortable alternative where appropriate.
For safety reasons, we ask that pupils wear sensible footwear suitable for school activities. High heels, backless shoes or footwear that may present a safety risk should not be worn. Black shoes are preferred.
To help prevent items being lost or misplaced, it is very helpful if all clothing and footwear are clearly labelled with your child’s name.
PE Kit
Pupils will take part in regular Physical Education lessons throughout the week.
A simple PE kit is recommended:
-
T-shirt
-
Shorts or joggers
-
Gym shoes or trainers
Children should be able to change independently and bring their PE kit to school on the days advised by their class teacher.
For safety reasons, jewellery should not be worn during PE activities.
