Book Week Scotland is a week long celebration of books and reading. It was celebrated in school with exciting activities and a great assembly to which each class contributed. Mrs Black, Mrs Thomson and Mr Brice read the three books shortlisted for the Scottish Children’s Book Awards. We voted for our favourite and the winner was “Robot Rumpus”. We enjoyed listening to another teacher reading their favourite book, silent reading and paired reading where the older pupils read with the infant classes. One of the highlights of the week was the Treasure Chest challenge where we had to guess the name of a book from clues hidden in a treasure chest. Thanks to the Library Group who organised the event.

Primary Two Magic Key Adventures!
As part of our literacy based topic, Primary Two have been enjoying Magic Adventures every Tuesday and Wednesday. Some of our favourites have been a Pirate Adventure and a Castle Adventure but the best surprise of all arrived on Monday. Santa Claus sent some of his special elves to Williamston Primary and our Christmas Adventure began!! Next week we will be writing our own Elf adventures so why don’t you pop on your thinking caps and imagine what mischief the elf could get up to if he came to stay in your house!!
P4 have been learning about St Andrew’s Day
We have learnt so much about St Andrew. We created leaflets all about it. Some of these will be sent to India to teach them all about our patron saint.
P6 Ski-ing
A huge well done to our P6 skiers! To think that most of us started off as ‘absolute beginners’ and we ALL finished our 8 week skiing course with a level 2 certificate or higher! The staff at Hillend were particularly impressed with the commitment that the children demonstrated! We are very proud of them and the mature attitudes they displayed while there! Well done boys and girls!

‘Choices for Life’ in P7
Primary 7 engaged with the Glow TV meet ‘Choices for life.’ This gave us lots to think about and discuss in class. It extended our thinking about tobacco and its effects and peer pressure. We were lucky enough to have one of our comments read out during the live broadcast!
Our P7B Growth mindset display!
P6 Victorian Ballroom
Well done to the Primary 6 pupils who have been learning to waltz. The ‘Victorian Ballroom’ has been an interesting topic in music. Boys and girls have been practising their 1,2,3s and are ready to try dancing with a partner now!
