Williamston Young Writer Winners

A great night was had by all at the Young Writer Award Ceremony, at Howden Park Centre, on Thursday 11th June. Mac A Story thoroughly entertained us and we were very proud when Ryan and Grace went on stage to receive their awards. Unfortunately Abbie couldn’t join us on the evening but she still got a big round of applause when her name was mentioned. A book containing the stories from all the winners is available in school. Very well done to all of you!

Spring Fayre 2015

We held another very successful Spring Fayre on Saturday 9th May which was well attended and had something for everyone. The fantastic sum of £2436 was raised! Many thanks to the members of the PSA and their supporters for ensuring the success of this venture. Much time has been spent planning and organising  this event and I’m sure that everyone would agree that it has been time and energy well spent.

Validated self-evaluation (VSE)

We will be engaging in a process of validated self-evaluation (VSE) during the next two weeks, as part of our commitment to continuous school improvement. This process will involve a team of two head teachers and an education officer from West Lothian Council who will work with us to observe learning and teaching, engage in discussion with groups of staff, pupils, parents and partners and consider the varied evidence produced across the school. The purpose of this approach is to support, extend and challenge our own self-evaluation and to work with us to refine our points for action and further improve the quality of our provision and outcomes for learners. We welcome the opportunity to work in partnership with the external team, to hear the views of the various focus groups and to engage meaningfully in a process which will give us added insight into whole school effectiveness.

Breakfast Week 2015

Our school breakfast club will be participating in Breakfast Week from Monday 26th January until Friday 30th January and will be offering some additional breakfast tasters, to highlight the variety of nutritious and tasty breakfast foods that can get your day off to a great start. We hope to Shake Up Your Wake Up!
