Primary 3 Katie Morag Showcase
Last week in primary 3a and 3b, we were very excited about having our family into school to share everything we have been learning in our Katie Morag topic.
Our special guests arrived at 9.15 in the morning and we welcomed them in the small hall and got started right away with sharing our work.
We performed the Canadian Barn Dance and Gay Gordons in the small hall, and then even asked an adult to dance with us! We were very impressed with the effort and enthusiasm from our guests.
In our P3 classrooms, we performed our Katie Morag puppet shows. We have been working very hard with Mrs Thomson to plan and script our puppet show and then made puppets and backdrops for our performance. We also showed our guests our 3D model islands. As Katie Morag lives on an island, we have been exploring island life and designed and made a model island of our own. We had to explain how we did this to our guests.
We shared stories with our guests in the library. Primary 3a have written a whole class Katie Morag story and read this to our guests and Primary 3b have been working on individual Katie Morag short stories and shared these with their guests. We also took the time to relax with a Katie Morag book.
To finish off our busy morning, we went back to the small hall to sing some Scottish songs. We sang “Ye cannae shove yer Granny aff a bus”, “The world must be comin’ tae an end” and “three craws”. We have also been working on a traditional Gaelic song with Ms Macdonald and performed this too.
We had a wonderful time showcasing our learning to our invited guests and our teachers think we did a wonderful job of explaining everything we have been doing in our topic work.

African Drumming Fun!
At the African Drumming Club, we enjoyed showing off our new talents and skills to parents, family and friends at our last session. We played a selection of rhythms, using a Christmas theme, on various instruments. But our favourite was The Rumble!
P5 rewrite the 12 days of Christmas
The Primary 5 children went outside today to come up with ideas for creating a Williamston Primary outdoor version of the 12 Days of Christmas. Here are the whole class versions.

Road Safety Week in P4
In P4, we have been learning more about keeping safe around roads as part of Road Safety Week. We have watched and discussed several videos and we have shown our knowledge and understanding by taking part in quizzes. A focus for our year group has been “peer pressure” and learning to act responsibly near roads and vehicles, even when your friends/peers may be encouraging you to do otherwise. We worked in groups to dramatise different situations that made us think about what to do and say to keep ourselves safe. Remember – Drive Less, Live More!
P4 and the Water Cycle
In P4, we are budding scientists! We set up an experiment which demonstrated evaporation and condensation and we were able to link our findings to the Water Cycle. We worked in groups to create our own pictures of the Water Cycle and labelled them with the processes. Take a look!
Primary 3/2’s Friendship Assembly
We really enjoyed performing our assembly to family members and Nursery to Primary 3 today. Miss Trotter was very proud of us all.
We have been learning a lot about the value of the month, Friendship. We know how important friends are to us and how to be a good friend. We will treat our friends like we would like to be treated because…. ‘The only way to have a friend is to be one.’
We’re going on a shape hunt…..
This week Primary One have been introduced to 3D shape. We have been looking all around us to spot cylinders, cones, cubes, cuboids and spheres. Can you spot these shapes at home? Perhaps you can bring in some examples to show your classmates? 
Primary 4 Friendship Assembly
Thank you to all who came to watch the Primary 4 assembly on Friendship this morning, Friday 4th December.
Mr Minute helps Primary 3/2, Primary 2/1 and Primary 2 learn all about Time
This week Mr Minute needed our help again in his factory. To fix his clocks we had to learn how to tell the time. We have played lots of fun time games, made paper plate clocks and showed our teacher how good we are at time by using mini clocks.
Can you show your family all the different times you know?
We are really excited about a family member coming into school next Tuesday (P.3/2 and P.2) or Thursday (P.2/1) to help us make a 3D creative clock. Everyone has designed their clock at home so please remember to bring in everything you need to make the clock next week.
