Sport Relief 2016

Just to remind everybody that it is Sport Relief this week. It is on Friday 18th of March 2016. There will be lots of fun activities this week for everybody. There will be money boxes in your classroom – please bring in loose change and put money in them if possible. There will be a certificate for the winning class.  We are having a competition to design a Sport Relief mascot, with fantastic prizes. We will also be selling wristbands and they will be 1 pound. On Friday there will be an assembly all about Sport Relief and there will be a fun TRY-ATHLON with sports activities for all pupils. Friday will also be a Dress-Down Day and you can wear sports clothes, including something red if possible. Please bring a donation for taking part.

Thank you for helping us raise money for Sport Relief!

Special Arrival in P4!

In P4, we were delighted to welcome some special arrivals recently – baby trout! We are doing a project with Forth Fisheries where we are raising trout fish from alevins to fry. We have got a special tank for them and our main job is to make sure that the water is the correct cool temperature by using bottles of ice. We change the bottles of ice twice a day to make sure the temperature doesn’t get too high. We will be releasing them into the local waterways when they  have all turned into fry.We are enjoying watching them change and grow – science in action before our very eyes!

Fairtrade Fortnight 29th February – 13th March 2016

The Fairtrade Pupil Leadership Group have been very busy getting ready for Fairtrade Fortnight. We have been making posters to let the school know what we have planned, we delivered an assembly to the whole school to launch it and we have been coming up with questions for the Fairtrade and breakfast themed quiz!

The International Pupil Leadership Group have also been busy making information leaflets about where our food comes from.

Please see the attached information about events and activities happening at Williamston Primary School during Fairtrade Fortnight.

We will keep you posted with updates, information and photographs!

An update from the Fairtrade group

Hello we are the Fairtrade group and we have been busy working on some ideas of how we can promote Fairtrade Fortnight at Williamston. We have already decided on group roles and expectations. Our Chairperson is Kiera, our link person is Craig, our Treasurer is Rowan and our Secretary is Shay. We have also created pledges which helped us to think about what commitments we will make to our group and school. We have also designed badges for our group. Our link person has been working with the P3,2 and 1 group to set them tasks and challenges. We have a floor book that we write in each week to share our ideas and learning.
