P7a and P7b 21.04.17

We cannot quite believe that this is our final term at Williamston Primary School! It is almost time for high school already!

We completed a big maths beat that challenge in maths to put our mental agility to the test.
We have also been learning more about the different parts of a circle. In addition to this we have worked hard on using a compass this week to draw circles. We explored tricky circle patterns and created our own patterns too.

Limefield were the winners this week! Well done. Limefield were also the winning house overall from last term and they had their house prize this week. They took part in a bunny drive, got some free time in the playground and got some mini eggs to eat too!

We took part in The Easter Code which involved cracking a special code. We had to find 5 words beginning with ‘s’ to help us. We learned more about the Easter story by taking part in different activities. Please ask us more about it!

This Thursday we had our first week of outdoor PE where we were out on the field developing our hockey skills. We played different games to help us feel more confident with controlling and dribbling the ball and shooting at a target.

Some of us helped with gardening on the field and we were even visited by a local cat who was interested in what we were up to!

It was an excitable morning in P7 today as our P7 leavers party invites were delivered. Harry Potter music was played across the tannoy and some owls delivered our invites through the windows.

Our PE days will now be a Monday and a Thursday.

Bon weekend from P7, Miss Brown and Mrs Fraser

Well done to those pupils who got certificates for Science Fair.
We worked on a story titled ‘Eye of the storm’ for Young Writer.
Finally we shared Easter holiday gifts for our buddies.
Happy easter holidays everyone!

Busy times in P7a this week!

This week, we started learning about the value of the month, perseverance. We also started to prepare for our assembly next Friday 27th January – All parents/carers etc welcome at 9:05am.

We had a visit from Gavin Thomson who delivered a lesson to us on perseverance – This will help us with our assembly preparations.

We learned and prepared our Scottish poems for the competition this week. Miss Gardiner was VERY impressed with us! It was a hard decision, but the class voted and Hannah, Rebecca & Abbie had the most votes and are through to the final round! Exciting times! Well done, girls!

In maths, we started some revision on fractions and next week, will be further developing our knowledge.

In writing this week, we focused on characters and setting. We also focused on the layout and structure for our imagintive stories.

Lots going on this week!

This week was ‘Book week’! For this, we designed Roald Dahl related props, heard stories over the tanoy system from Mrs Hollands, Miss Noble & Mr Brice. We then voted for our favourite one and ‘Shark in the Park’ won! We also watch a ‘Live Author’s Show’ and engaged in a whole school ‘Book week’ assembly.

We had our first Mandarin lesson this week, where we learned about China and the Mandarin word for panda!

We also had our final Tobacco Education workshop, which we have very much enjoyed.

Yesterday, we had a Science Teacher and 3 former Williamston pupils from JYHS visit and deliver a Science lesson to us! Very exciting!

We’re looking forward to another exciting week next week!

Primary 7a – 4/1/16

We’ve had a busy week again this week!

On Wednesday, we went to the ‘Risk Factory’ in Edinburgh, where we learned how to react in emergency situations and what the dangers of fire/trains/cars/bike/internet/farms/electricity include.

We started selling poppies to the whole school in aid of ‘Remebrance Day’ 2016. We have also been working on our ‘Remembrance’ assembly next week.

Some of us attended JYHS last night for our P7 information evening. We really enjoyed it!

We all had our parent’s evenings this week too! We all did really well and had lots of things to be smiling about!

Our school photos were taken on Monday too!

Today, we had our achievement assembly – Well done to Aaron, Ruby, Gregor & Laura who received certificates!

We’re looking forward to next week, as we’ll be practicing our assembly in the big hall, Pupil Leadership groups, Reflective spaces and a Tobacco workshop!

28.10.16 P7

Today most of the girls are at ‘Active Girls Day Festival’ at James Young High School to take part in lots of different activities. The rest of P7 have been working on posters to let the school know about our Remembrance assembly on Friday 11th of November.

P7a have began a new Topic on WW2 and are really looking forward to learning more. P7b will be beginning to explore this more soon.

We have been exploring the Global Goals and focusing on Goal 5, Gender Equality. We finished analysing our surveys and calculated the gender ratio to see what percentage of men and woman have influential and decision making roles in our community. We reflected on what this means and how it fits in globally.

In addition to this we have been working on newspaper articles. We have been learning how to write a great newspaper article and focusing on writing in columns, in the third person, using past tense and writing catchy headlines.

A big focus for us in maths is addition and exploring different strategies to allow us to add up larger numbers. We are feeling more confident with this already!

We are really excited about our trip to The Risk Factory next Wednesday.

Have a great weekend!
