P3/4

On Wednesday 14th September P 3/4/5 went to the National Museum in Edinburgh to visit the Celt exhibition as part of our topic on the Celts.

We had a great time, learned a lot (but knew a lot too!!!!), but were not allowed to take photos in the exhibition. However we did take pictures of us enjoying the workshop where we were archaeologists for a day.

Here are some of those photos of us in action.

Den Building at Beecraigs

This morning, the Eco Committee spent a morning building a shelter using materials found lying on the ground around them in the forest. They worked hard and worked as a team to create a super water-proof and cosy den. Now they are planning to share these skills with others in the school by organising a den building event.

Meet your new Eco Committee!!

Your new Eco Committee consists of one pupil from each year group. They are full of enthusiasm and are looking forward to helping us all become more aware of how we can take care of our environment. Their first job will be to get us all involved in carrying out a review of our school, then they will set targets for the year based on the results of this review.

Another busy week in p1/2

We started our topic of minibeasts this week and have used it as a context for learning across much of the curriculum.

Brodie enjoyed hunting for minibeasts in the playground in the rain on Tuesday. He particularly liked the green caterpillar he found.

In maths  we have been learning about symmetry and Stephen enjoyed painting a symmetrical butterfly. Findlay enjoyed using a laptop game to match symmetrical shapes and Ciara enjoyed using the 2d shapes to create a symmetrical butterfly (see photos below).

We read ‘The bad tempered ladybird’ and then wrote our own stories about a bad tempered minibeast and thought about what another creature could say to make the minibeast happy. Kaila enjoyed writing her story about a grumpy spider who ended up happy because a butterfly said it could share her bugs.

In number, P2s have been practicing counting forwards and backwards to solve addition and subtraction problems and Elyse has enjoyed this. P1s have been learning how to write numbers up to 5 and practcing counting using active activities and laptop games.
