Outdoor learning in P2

This week we loved being back with Mr Lockhart for outdoor learning. We were looking for signs of spring and learning about the trees.

We have also been learning how the moon changes shape and what the different stages are called. We ate Jaffa cakes to show each change in the moon.

Lego Club’s animal magic

We have had another fun-filled week at Lego Club! This week our challenge was to build an animal habit for their favourite animal for Earth Day.

Amongst the creations were snakes in the jungle, sharks in the ocean, fish in the coral reef; as well as penguins, polar bears, rabbits and more! One clubber even created a ‘true view’ of the ocean with plastic and old junk floating in it – which was very sad but very important as we all agreed this should not be allowed to happen.

Well done for your creativity and great discussions Lego Club!

A busy week in P6!

This week in P6 we have finishing our Europe topic by presenting our Power points on our favourite country. Next week will will start our new topic Victorians. In maths we have been learning about decimals and angles.  We have started a new writing topic – Persuasive Writing – and have been practising presenting a series of arguments in two class debates.

We have also started working on our Shrek the Musical Jr show, with all pupils rehearsing or helping to paint and build props.

We also began a new session of outdoor learning and will be planting up our raised beds and finishing off our John Muir Award.

In other news well done to Codi and Maddison for taking part in the gymnastics competition – they each received a medal and certificate. And also huge congratulations to Luke, Kymberley and Keira who received an award from St Kent’s for participating well in the Young Stem Leader’s lesson before Easter. Well done!

Primary 4

Today in Primary 4 we spent some time in the garden planting vegetables 🥗.

We have planted potatoes 🥔, onions 🧅, carrots 🥕, broccoli 🥦, lettuce 🥬 and pumpkins 🎃.

We found it very interesting how all the seeds looked different and we were surprised to be growing potatoes from potatoes 🥔 .
This is connected to our topic of planting and farming.

P1 Outdoor Eduction

We loved our first session of outdoor learning with Mr Lockhart. We had fun exploring the woodland area. Tay Class…Our First Week Back

Lovely to see all the children back to school this week and it’s been a busy one. Here are some photos of what we’ve been up to:

‘H’ enjoyed making and saying numbers and addition sums using the magnetic numbers.

‘A’ sorted the numerals from the puzzle into the correct order.

‘L’ especially likes the  illustrations of the play park in this book.

‘A’ and ‘B’ played with the coloured rice and toy food.

‘A’ and ‘H’ enjoyed creating music outside.

We all enjoyed the sunshine whlist climbing and exploring the trim trail.

‘A’ enjoyed sorting magnetic numbers and making and reading numbers too.

‘L’ played with the treaure chest and liked putting different toys inside.

‘C’ has been very interested in the visual timetable this week.

Some of the class enjoyed making salt dough.  Pouring, mixing and kneading.  Look at those faces… so focussed!

The children made collage spring flowers for our window then ‘H’ helped Miss M. to paint stalks for our flowers and butterflies too.  Fantastic!

Here are a few photos of some of the tasks at the teaching table this week.  ‘C’ and ‘B’ did well on the matching tasks.  ‘A’ and ‘A’ used their fine motor skills to carefully complete the letter ‘h’ with a dabber. They also focused well whilst overwriting the letter h and their name too.

A few photos from ‘Choose Time’…

‘A’ has enjoyed creating Numberblocks using plasticine or play dough.

What a busy week it has been!

Finally, here a few more photos of the children playing  at the trim trail.  Not so sunny this time but that didn’t stop us.  Lots of exploring, climbing, balancing and challenging themselves!

‘B’ loved pulling the chimes back, letting them go and listening to the sounds they made as they bumped together.

Primary 4

This week in Primary 4 we have been learning all about Vincent Van Gogh. We then created our own flower pictures.

In maths we have moved on to pictographs and bar 📊 graphs.
