Lego club goes to Egypt

This week the Lego club challenge was to construct a pyramid with door, that could house something of value. Well done to everyone for carefully constructing the pyramid and leaving an opening. Each pyramid was different and did the job admirably! Next week our Clubbers will bring their valuable in and we will choose a winner! Once again we all had a lovely time and ate some yum snacks! Lego club rules OK!

Tay Class update..

Tay class have been very busy the last couple of weeks so here is some of what we’ve been doing…

Some of the class enjoyed coming into school in their pyjamas last week for world book day.  They enjoyed listening to adults reading stories, looking at books and stories on the ipad too.

‘H’ was very excited to make numbers with both the arrow cards and the Numicon.  He started at 1 and went up to 145! We had to tidy up for lunch or he would have kept going.  What great focus ‘H’!

The children (and adults!) enjoyed playing shakers or drums for music.  We were practising playing to the beat, playing up high and down low.  ‘A’ is especially good on the drums.  We liked a few songs showing different instruments too.

‘A’ enjoyed using the Numicon to count in 2’s and also is enjoying playing with the model Magic dough.  He has used the dough to make different Numberblocks.

‘B’ enjoyed playing with the Numicon and Lego a lot this week.  He tried at at some jigsaws too.

‘L’ helped Miss M. wash the dishes after lunch.  She had fun playing with the water and the ducks too.

‘C’ has enjoyed looking at books and also taking photos and videos of herself on the ipad then looking at these.

‘A’ enjoyed number jigsaws and sorting numbers.  Also playing with the Paw Patrol toys at Choose Time.

Litter Picking in Primary 3

On this beautiful sunny Tuesday , Primary 3 have been out litter picking in our school grounds.

We used our fine motor skills to collect the litter with our pickers. In pairs, one of us picked and the other collected in bin bags.

We couldn’t believe the amount of rubbish we found and collected.

To finish off, we used chunky chalk to create some images of plants and animals which is our new Science topic.

Primary 3

This week we participated in world book day celebrations! We arrived to school in our pyjamas and brought a book in. We joined in with the BBC live lessons and had lots of fun using our imaginations!

During the week, we had to work as a team to recall our 2, 5 and 10 times table. We recorded our working in the playground using chalk.

To finish off our week we participated in Lenten Bingo.
Some of our Primary 3 friends won some prizes.

Another wonderful week in Primary 3, where we ‘believe to achieve’.

Primary 4

On Thursday we celebrated world book day. We all came in wearing our pyjamas and brought a book in.
We enjoyed a book hunt, which was lots of fun. We then took part in a live BBC lesson and created our own book characters. We finished off by making origami book marks, some of us found these trick but we used our perseverance and they all turned out brilliantly!

On Thursday we participated in Bunny Bingo! We had a winner in our class and we all enjoyed participating.

P6 meet their future buddies at Nursery

It’s been an exciting few weeks in P6 as we got to go to Nursery to meet our future P1 buddies! Firstly, we visited in the morning to meet the first group; then we returned in the afternoon and met the afternoon children. We’ll be having some more visits soon and have already made lots of lovely friends!

After the visits, P6 said they loved:
meeting all the new buddies, playing with the nursery toys, exploring the outdoor area, playing on the outdoor equipment, being a role model, letting the smaller children choose what to play and trying some things they’d not tried since nursery.

Well done P6! We know you will make brilliant buddies for our future P1s!

Lego Club – musical monsters and lego man habitat challenge!

This week at Lego Club we started with a challenge called musical monsters! When the music started, each Lego Clubber began to create a monster and when the music stopped, they had to pass it to the person on their left to carry it on. After several makeovers, each monster was complete, and introduced along with details of their function in life. The result was a gruesome range of very shady characters with a number of questionable functions… what happens in Lego Club stays in Lego Club – just saying!! Well done to Luke for winning the challenge with his electronically charging tall bot.

Finally we regained our senses and took part in a habitat challenge for a Lego figure. Luke and Phillip won the prize for their very comfortable spaceship, with a lego figure already moved in and enjoying life inside!

Looking forward to more fun with the bricks next week!

Primary 1 – WORLD BOOK DAY

World Book Day - World Book Day | World Book Day is a registered charity. Our mission is to give every child and young person a book of their own.

What a fun day in school today as we all celebrate World Book Day!

We did so many fun things!  We came into class this morning to find a book at our desks.  We could keep and read the book or swap with a friend.  After ten minutes, we met with our P7 buddies and worked together to do a book hunt.  We had to find hidden bookmarks along the corridor and each book mark contained a letter.  We found 10 letters and then had to rearrange them and the letters spelt out a famous character from a story.  We figured out the letters spelt…

P A D D I N G T O N.

On return to class we listened to a Paddington story and drew a picture of him.

Throughout the day we also listened to an Authors Live story, coloured in a fairytale poster of lots of different characters and matched them to the correct fairytale, designed and coloured a bookmark, read with our P7 buddies, made up silly stories and did a book character listening activity!!!  We had the best day.

Thank you to the children who donated a book for the Book Swap!

Some feedback from our Primary 1 stars…
