Primary 1 enjoyed a lovely buddy session this week, we listened to “What We’ll Build” by Oliver Jeffers. We then then built things in our classroom with our buddies.

In RE this week we discussed how we use our hands to pray 🙏 and thought about who we talk to when we pray. We used this to create beautiful praying hands pictures.

On Thursday we enjoyed our outdoor learning session in the school garden, 🪴 we loved digging for treasure and found lots of potatoes 🥔.  Everyone has agreed that we would love to clean them and make something with them.

Have a lovely weekend 😊

Another fantastic week of learning in Primary 1. A firm favourite this  week has been PE, we all enjoy having space to run around, work together and playing games.

We explored friendships this week, what makes a good friend and how we are a good friend, after talking about this we then created images of ourselves and our friends. We are all very proud of them.

Everyone in Primary 1 is becoming more independent when it comes to making lunch choices, collecting their lunch as well as clearing it away before play. Lots of us are beginning to try new things and enjoying having choices.

On Friday we participated in our first School Mass, we were all very respectful and sang our hearts ♥️ out.

Have a lovely weekend ☺️

Second last week in Primary 1, where has the time gone!

We filled or week with more fabulous learning opportunities. As we are going to the Kelpies on our next trip we learned all about the Scottish 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 fairytale of  the Kelpies. We used this to inspire our artwork this week. Everyone is please at how they turned out.

On Tuesday we got to watch the school show Matilda. We were all very respectful in the audience and enjoyed watching the show.

As part of our Fairyland topic the friendly dragon left us some magic beans 🫘 to plant, we are hoping to grow our very own beanstalks.

As the Foot World Cup is on we all enjoyed coming to school with our football clothes on! We had fun celebrating Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 winning their first match.

On Friday we enjoyed watching our buddies in there leavers assembly, we are all going to miss our big buddies in the school.

We are all super excited that next week is our last week in Primary 1 and we are looking forward to meeting our new teacher.

Have a great weekend 😀

Primary 1

In Primary 1 this week the Friendly Dragon from fairyland paid us another visit. The dragon said thank you for us bringing fairyland alive, and encouraged us to keep reading fairytales. Everyone in Primary 1 has enjoyed listening to the fairytale stories and have been able to discuss if we have heard them before.

The dragon also left us a dragon teddy to take care off, we are going to take turns at taking the dragon home, showing the dragon our home and maybe reading the dragon some stories from home.

During PE this week we have been practicing ball skills, throwing and catching and even trying to score some hoops. Everyone in Primary 1 gives 100% to PE as we love being active!

We were lucky to find some big boxes in the school this week and these have created lots of role play opportunities. We have had. House, a pirate ship, a space ship, a den, a car and lots more, This allowed us to create different stories and characters.

And on Friday we had the opportunity to share our Primary 1 journey at our class assembly. We worked together to pick what photos we wanted to share with everyone and what we wanted to say about this year. it’s safe to say we have had a lot of learning but even more fun together this year!

Thank you to all the adults who came to watch us 😀 and who have supported our learning this year!

Have a lovely ☺️ weekend.

Everyone in Primary 1 was delighted that our caterpillars 🐛 had emerged from their chrysalis as beautiful butterflies 🦋. We looked after them in the classroom for a few days, they loved oranges 🍊. When it was time t release them some of us we sad but we talked about how it wasn’t fair to keep the butterflies 🦋 in class as they needed to  be able to fly. We loved seeing the butterflies 🦋 in the flowers 🌺.

Throughout the week we have explored different ways to measure 📏  we all enjoyed measuring each other  as well as other items in the classroom.

On Friday we had our last Big Breakfast 🥞 and Sharing our Learning in Primary 1. Our theme this time was Health and Wellbeing and we decided that we wanted to share Worry Monsters with our adults.  Everyone loves it when our adults come into school .

Have a lovely weekend 😀

Primary 1

Primary 1 have had another fabulous learning week!

On Monday we learned all about Pentecost and how the Holy Spirit is all around us.  We made our own Holy Spirit headbands.

As well have caterpillars 🐛 in class we have been learning all about the life cycle of butterflies 🦋 and we used this to inspire out artwork. We discussed how butterflies 🦋 are symmetrical and created our own butterflies 🦋 . We had lots of fun creating our butterflies.

A special visitor made a delivery 📦 to our classroom, a dragon 🐉 looking for help with Fairyland. The dragon left us lots of fairytale books 📚 to read and asked us to red them and created our own fairyland. Primary 1 decided to start with Jack and the Bean Stalk. We enjoyed listening to the story, exploring the pictures in the book and we used the ideas to create our own giant and beanstalk 🫘 🌱.

During the week we also got to enjoy watching the Teachers v Pupils netball game, we enjoyed cheering on our teacher.

On Thursday we had a super afternoon at the school careers fair, we loved meeting parents who came in to share what they do as a job as well as people from the emergency 🚨 services. This was very interesting and lots of fun! Thursday afternoon was also “play afternoon “ Which the Creative and Digital committee had planned, it was great to be able to bring in toys from home and share why we like them with our friends.

Have a lovely weekend everyone 😀

Primary 1 Health Week Day 4

Last day of Health Week and it’s was another busy one. We started our day with a session with PC Sean. This was lots of fun as well as giving us lots of information about how to stay safe and how the police can help us. We also got the opportunity to investigate some equipment and police uniform he brought along to show us.

Next up for us was a mini marathon 🏃‍♀️ 🏃 we found this challenging but fun, we enjoyed running with our friends. We talked about how it’s very good for our health to do something that challenges us.

As well as looking after our bodies we also need to look after minds and we enjoyed our Mental Health session where we talked about what we could do when we are feeling sad, upset, angry or frustrated and what makes us feel happy and safe.

Let but not least, our last session of the week was Dancing with Next Steps. Some of us thought we didn’t like dancing but  our faces said differently and afterwards we all agreed it was lots of fun.

We hope you have a lovely weekend 😀
