Primary 1

This week we have enjoyed having some sunshine β˜€οΈ.

During outdoor learning we got out to check on the seeds we planted and collected bugs πŸ› We were very good at identifying different types of bugs 🐞 and respectful at putting them back where we found them. Some Β of us were a little frightened to catch the bugs πŸ› but we worked as a team. We had to use trowels to find the bugs in the earth.

In topic work we have been learning that there are lots and lots of different creatures in the sea 🌊 and this week we focused on naming some of them. We all did very well at matching the creatures to their names.

We used good coordination skills to catch fish 🐟 with our magnetic fishing rods and enjoyed catching the fish eggs with the fishing net.

As it is spring time some of us made spring flower hand prints, we have discussed how in springtime flowers start to grow and the weather gets a bit better. Β When the weather is nice we get to go out to the back playground at lunchtime, we all enjoy exploring the playground.

We have also enjoyed using the light up boards for independent writing.

Have a lovely weekend.

Primary 1

Primary 1 settled straight back into learning after our Easter Holidays. Everyone has showed the school values and enjoyed being back together with our friends.

In number work we have been learning about sharing and making equal groups. We have shared out different items with each other making sure everyone had an equal amount, this makes it fair. To stretch our learning we then worked on adding equal groups together. As a challenge Primary 1 requested to learn how to count in 2’s.

We have enjoyed learning more fun facts about sea creatures, this week we learned that when a group of fish swim together we call that a school of fish.

During art we made water colour sea scenes and added tropical fish to them, We were focusing on our brush stroke work making them look like 🌊 waves. We talked lots about what the sea looks like , if is was smooth or wavy and if it was all the one colour. After our fish dried we added details to them and put them on our ocean scenes.

Have a lovely weekend πŸ˜€

Primary 1

We have had fun learning week in Primary 1.

For outdoor learning we had a lovely walk to the park, having lots of fun together working on our motor skills.

We were all delight to take our sunflowers 🌻 home this week, we are looking forward to seeing how big they grow.

On Friday we decorated real eggs πŸ₯š. We have learned where eggs come from Β πŸ“ and that they are very delicate. Miss Stenhouse boiled them so they were a bit stronger.

We hope you have a lovely Easter holiday.

Primary 1

Primary 1 have been learning about the oceans and different creatures that live in it. This week we used this to create beautiful ocean scene pictures. We used different techniques to create layers on our pictures. We are all proud of our work and had lots of fun making them.

During RE this week as well as having a focus on lent and being forgiving like Jesus, we also learned about St Partrick. We created trinity shamrocks ☘️ to represent The Father, The Son and the Holy Spirit. We had to use lots of fine motor skills to create these.

During outdoor learning this week we were out in the garden starting our vegetable teepee. We had to carefully fill the planters with soil and sick a big bamboo stick in each one. Miss Stenhouse then tied them together before we planted our seeds. We have planted cucumber and bean seeds as they like to grow tall.

Have a lovely weekend πŸ˜€

Primary 1

During our outdoor learning in Primary 1 we planted trees 🌳 In class we have been learning about living things and the importance of plants and trees in the world. 🌍 This was a good opportunity for us to plant trees and watch them grow as we grow in school.

This week we decided to change our play area from a hairdressers to a puppet show. We have created posters and 🎫 tickets for our show, thinking of how much we should charge for our tickets. We have had lots of fun using or imagination  to create shows for our friends.

We have found it lots of fun practicing French words and learning facts about France πŸ‡«πŸ‡· we took time to create French flags and compared them to the Scottish flag.

As we approach Easter we have been thinking about what that means in the Church calendar and the meaning behind the Easter celebrations.

We have also been thinking about the change in seasons and how we know that spring is her, new flowers, baby chicks 🐀 and Β lambs πŸ‘ .

We have had fun playing with Spring materials.

Shapes have been a big hit in Primary 1 and we have been learning lots about 2D and 3D shapes.

Have a lovely weekend 😊

Primary 1

Another busy learning week in Primary 1. We have been learning all about living things with a focus on plants πŸͺ΄We discussed what plants Β need to grow and the different parts of plants. It was agreed that we would like to grow our own plants so in class we have planted sunflower 🌻 seeds and are looking to looking after them and watching them grow.

On Thursday we took part in world 🌎 book πŸ“• day. We took part in a book scavenger hunt, listened to authors reading their books and made book marks. It was lots of fun.

On Friday some of our grown ups came into school to join us for our school Big Breakfast and then in our classroom to share our learning. We love sharing our learning. We hope the grown up’s enjoyed visiting our classroom.

Have a lovely weekend ☺️

Cooking club week 2

It was sweet week and we made chocolate truffles. We had to get our hands messy this week to roll the ingredients into balls. It was hard not to eat some as we were cooking πŸ§‘β€πŸ³ as it was very tasty πŸ˜‹

Lots of skills were used making our truffles, smashing, scooping, mixing, rolling and sharing.
