Last week in P2

Well were almost at the end of P2 and what a week we have had.

On Monday we walked all the way to morning mass in West Calder. We were very good and all listened very well. We then went to the park at the back of the community centre where we had snack and got soaked in the heavy rain but had great fun playing with our friends from P1. We then walked to the community garden and went around the stick man trail and enjoyed exploring the fairy garden.

On Tuesday we had our last session with Mr Lockhart. We enjoyed playing and our s’mores which were delicious.

Today we had our picnic. We made our own sandwiches and then enjoyed them in the trim trail and had a play.

Thank you  for a fantastic year, I hope you all have a fantastic summer😊

P2 at Edinburgh Zoo

What a day we have had today!!

When we got to the zoo we took part in an interactive quiz where we were learning and guessing what animals were endangered.

We then had lunch in the shade by the penguins. We tried to get around as many animal enclosures as we could and seen most animals. Our favourite animals were the giraffes, pandas, flamingos, kangaroos, penguins, tigers, hippos and monkeys. We have loved our trip today and now want to go to the safari park!!

Water safety in P2

Folowing on from learning how to be safe in the sun last week,  today we looked at how we can be safe in and around water.  We thought about the different places we can find water and why we need to be safe even if we are just walking beside it. We discussed the different things that can be dangerous and what we can do to keep ourselves safe. We also thought about what we would do if we were or seen somone in trouble. We created some warning posters and tried on Miss Lawtons buoyancy aid.

Butterflies in P2

We have been enjoying watching our caterpillars grow and turn into butterflies. After waiting a while the have changed and look beautiful. Today we released them and some were very friendly and did not want to leave us.

We loved having our parents in today and hope you enjoyed doing sun safety with us.

Mammal tracking in P2

P2 are learning about day and night in topic at the moment. We decided to look at what animals have been around the school during those times. We set up some mammal tunnels to track what has been around the school and at Miss Lawton’s house. After a few attempts we have some tracks!

Using an ID sheet we think the bigger prints are cats or maybe a hedgehog and the smaller prints being a weasel or a mouse. Thank you to the Easter Breich wood community group for letting us borrow the mammal tunnels we have loved exploring what visits the school.

Health week in P2

What a busy week we have had!

We have all taken part in many activities this week. On Tuesday we had smoothies, outdoor learning and Judo which we really enjoyed. On Wednesday we played games with Mr Boles, learned about mindfulness and planted trees when the heavy rain started. On Thursday we had martial arts – which we loved, exercise to music which was exhausting, dance and we had a referee come in and speak to us. Today we made our fruit kebabs, took part in fitness, sensory circuits and had first aid to finish off our fantastic week. We have all loved taking part in the activities and thank you to everyone who came along to lead us in them.

Outdoor learning in P2

This week we loved being back with Mr Lockhart for outdoor learning. We were looking for signs of spring and learning about the trees.

We have also been learning how the moon changes shape and what the different stages are called. We ate Jaffa cakes to show each change in the moon.

Easter fun in P2

This week we have had lots of fun. We loved the lovely weather on Monday and went to the park whilst it was sunny. We had a great time and enjoyed playing with our friends.

As part of our Lenten fundraiser we made Easter nests. We loved crumbling the Shredded Wheat and mixing the chocolate. We even managed not to eat the chocolate whilst mixing which was very tricky.

We also had 2 furry visitors from the nursery in our class later this week. We loved having Muffin and Biscuit in the classroom the were very good at giving cuddles and eating their food.

A big thank you to Cody’s Gran who was very kind and knitted us all a bunny with a hidden egg inside it. It was very kinds and  we wish we could knit like that.

Have a lovely holiday!

Primary 2 update

What a busy few weeks we have had in P2.

Yesterday we enjoyed the Lenten funfair and took part in many of the activities. We particularly liked the throwing ones.

Today P1 joined us with some Easter art. We used different lines to create our rabbits and even gave them some glasses.
